swimmin' prism

HELP!

my prism went into the water for a brief time. i took it out, took it apart, and got it pretty dry w/ an airhose.

what now?

what will i need to get it back together? is there a chance that i'll be able to keep from replacing it? if i have to replace it, what parts will be salvageable? maybe it could buy a new one, and cheaply rebild this one to work as my phone/gps/camera...?

sh

Give it a few days to dry. Does it restart?

Probably still work:
screen
battery - check with voltmeter
case
[You can sell these.]

www.gethightech.com has replacement parts, but you have to know what you need.

It would be cheaper to sell the parts and use the $ towards a used or refurb Prism.

the handspring wasn't sprung! i got it apart, dried it as best i could (pretty damned well!), left it in pieces all day, put it back together last evening...and it works! did the same w/ the phone and it works as well as it did (not really saying much, is it? the thing barely worked anyway.).

i think i'll buy another anyway. didn't they discontinue the prism?

Yes, the Prism is discontinued. There are plenty available. If you can't find it retail, go to E-bay. There are plenty "New In the Box", if you can believe them.

...yeah, i've been looking for them on e-bay. i went there to find one for my dad, and went back to look for one for myself: what do you think is "fair price" for a used one? i'm having trouble w/ believing that the seller has kept such a fine instrument "in the box", and don't know what a used one would be worth.

thanks for you help.

My guess is about $150. Depends on who's bidding up, too. Look for an auction that closes on a weekday. Prices seem to go up on the weekend.
