Question

hello everyone, you've always been a great help to me and am hoping for one more time. i've had my vdx for about a year and can't live without it, the problem is i need a visor for my fiance and was wondering if the platinum is a logical choice for me? this would be her 1st handheld and i thought i'd give her mine (in case she doesn't use it) and upgrade. i've looked at the prisim and can't justify the $$$ for the the unit. if i were to upgrade to platinum is there a way to keep my 3rd party apps on hers and mine, until she decides if she will be commited to this. i know that we can have the same id name but our calenders will be corrupted. any information would be appreciated. thanks in advance for the advice.

jim

I think that you will run into trouble if you try and use the same device name for both units. There are different OS patches that each unit needs. You could always just let her trial the 3rd party apps and decide if she wants to keep them. Since you have more handheld experience, I think you will really appreciate the enhacements of the platinum. I just upgraded last week and I like the Plat even better than the Vdx I used for the past year. I notice the speed increase on vindigo and tealphone. I am still exploring the differences in the newer os 3.5

If there is any excuse you have for upgrading to the Plat, I say go for it!!! I really think you will be glad you did!!!

Wink

I'm certainly no expert on the other gender (and your fiance in particular!); but I'd think twice about getting yourself something new, and giving her a hand-me-down as a gift. No need to explain yourself, but I see the shadows of some personal Christmas' past in your situation . . .

I think DateBk4 lets you have 2 scheds. on a Visor via the use of categories.
Alternatively, I guess you could 1st sync both under the same name, then make a copy of that named subdir. (and likely re-name it)
Then one of you sync. w/a diff. name.
Then, after making diff. date book entries, you could either copy out the date book's db to that named subdir, or copy everything else to where the current date book's db is, deleting / replacing the old.

Hah, Tuffy -- you read my mind... 318ti, what did you end up doing?
