Question

This is way off topic but I'm betting one of you guys can help. Lately when I load certain pages, Internet Explorer [IE5 on WinNT 4.0, SP4 (I think)] just spontaneously closes. Most recently it happened when I tried to access our Fiery print server but it has happened with internet sites too. I am able to access the print server from other computers.

Prob'ly something simple but I'm flummoxed. Any ideas?
Thanks,

Mike

Lightbulb

Figured it out! I installed the Virtual Machine update from Microsoft and it looks like that did it. Thanks anyway.

Of course if anyone cares to explain what the Virtual Machine is, I'm all ears.

The virtual machine is a Java iterpreter.
The programming language Java is set up that it does not compile to a specific platform (like windows or Mac) but only pre-compiles it and the 'virtual machine' interpretates that code and makes it execute...

This is also know as JIT (Just In Time) Compiling...

Do files get embarrassed when they get unzipped?

Unless, of course, the JVM was made by MS
