Question

I am thinking about getting a prism but i have a few questions about it...

1. What incompatibilities does it have versus b/w PDA's?

2. How does a B/W only program show up (Does it???)

3. How long would the rechargable battery last under medium to strenuous use and how long does it take to recharge?

Thanks!

Cool

1. It's larger in size, weighs a little more than other Visors, doesn't preform too well in direct sunlight, but it's ability to display 64k color is great.

2. Yes black and white programs will show up, just not in color.

3. As far as the battery goes, I use mine an hour a day and rarely ever notice the bar even decrease. Now if I take a lot of (color) pictures with it, the battery goes down slightly, but it only takes me 15-30 minutes to recharge it back to full again. You should get an average of 5-8 hours of battery use, depending on how much you use it, what you store on your memory, and settings you use like high sound and always leaving the beam receive on, or brightness control. When it gets to the compleatly dead area, the battery bar goes red and you have about 10 minutes to get it charged, or lose your data. It takes roughly 2 full hours to recharge a drained battery.

Hope it helps.

Only a couple of comments on this..

Like all visors, the Prism will shut itself down automatically to prevent total memory loss, so you have quite a bit more than "10 minutes" to get it recharged. The "low battery" warning messages will probably drive you crazy long before the auto power off self-protect feature kicks in.

and under normal use it recharges fairly quickly, often in only a few minutes.. if you do drain it really really really low, then it will take a while to recharge, but even with my minijam, I have yet to drain it so low it takes hours to recharge.

One clarification to what 'websitedoctor' said about the questions that were raised. As far as 'non-color' apps -- they show up as black ink on a brightened white background (unless you're using a color scheme program like chrome or khroma -- but -- they show up and are many times easier to read and work with than the standard non-color monochrome screen.

Yeah, ebooks are easier to read and most b/w programs look a lot better on the Prism. Dreadling is a perfect example of this, I never used to play it on my Deluxe because I couldn't see anything, now it is actually playable. Many programs I used to use seem to have color support too, so a lot of your old stuff you probably will just use the color versions of.
