MemPlug modules: CF or SM?

I have a Visor Edge and am keen to add some extra memory. From reading the reviews the MemPlug adapter modules look the best bet, but I'm confused as to whether to go for Compact Flash or Smart Media. I'd be grateful if someone could point out the pros and cons - I'm a beginner in this sort of area. I'd also value some advice on what to do about protecting the screen when a Springboard module is inserted, since it prevents you from using the metal cover.

I can't help you with the case issue since I have a Visor Platinum and not a Visor Edge but I can help you in finding out the differences between the Memplug SM and CF.

Memplug SM

Pros
Better battery life
Slightly cheaper cards
All 3.3V SM cards supported

Cons
Slower than CF
Module not complete flush though the card no longer sticks out

Memplug CF

Pros
Much faster than SM
Flush both on top and in back (not a concern with Edge)
More prevelent than SM

Cons
Battery life not as good as SM
Battery life very card dependent
Not all Type I CF cards supported (though it is getting better)
