Hi All,
Here's a VisorPhone module me and my wife could really use:

My occasional lapse of perception made me think this thread was "Visor Phone Home".

It immediately suggested a good anti-theft feature for the Visor Phone. How about every time when you put it in a Visor (after setting it up the first time) it begins to dial 911. You have 5 seconds to press a certain sequence of buttons to cancel the call. If you don't know the sequence or don't know about it, the visor will make the call, and in an automated voice say "This is a stolen Handspring Visor cellphone belonging to (your name). Trace this call to locate the Visor and possibly the thief." Of course the thief would not hear the call, and since he/she didn't press the key sequence, will not be able to hang up or make their own call. The Visor Phone will stay online until the Visor is powered off, the VisorPhone it removed, or the police arrive.

Just a thought. I know, I have too many. ;-)

Dave

Well, that anti-theft device wouldn't work because you can't trace a cell phone like that. Current technology only allows you to trace to the cell tower, which wouldn't help much in finding the crook. The government is going to require companies to add location tracing but my understanding is that its still under development and so many carriers are working on alternative methods that your company's method could possibly not work while roaming.

Also, I think another number would have to be setup rather than use 911. Someone having their VisorPhone stolen isn't really an emergeny.

Here are some news items/articles where we wrote about the cordless phone. It was supposed to come out in December, but we haven't heard anything since.
