I've had the Edge for about a month now and love it (previously I had a Deluxe). Anyway, while using my Deluxe I signed up w/AvantGo and due to that I periodically get emails about new features/channels/etc.

One that I got last week interested me - wireless AvantGo with your PDA. I clicked on their 'wireless wizard' to see what would work for me and my Samsung 3500 phone w/SprintPCS and my Edge.

It came up with this cable that connects the 3500 and Edge to take advantage of SprintPCS's "wireless web" feature that the phone has. This sounds like an easy way to minimally get online with my Edge making use of what I already have access to (as in the wireless web feature of my phone).

The cable is only $39.95 and of course I'd need to download some new PalmOS apps. and start paying for the SprintPCS wireless web minutes. But my question is this - has anybody heard of this and done it?

I'd much prefer getting some type of comment from somebody that's done it/used it before I order the cable.

yes, this has been answered a zillion times over... try the troubleshooting and wireless forums, they discuss this very thing to death.

if you are ordering the cable from the supply-net, their ship dates end up slipping a lot. at least it did for the cable I ordered...

Go ahead and order that cable - it's very cool!!

Ahh... sorry. I looked through the different forums as best I could, but didn't see anything related. I must have missed a post... But thanks for the thumbs up! I'll consult the other forums now.

It works

This solution works very well, though I have not tried it yet with the edge. I have tested a Palm V and a Handpring delux using the AvantGo solution and they work great. I think this solution is geared to the average wireless user. There is a low hardware cost and (depending on your carrier) you only pay for the minutes you use.
