Lightbulb

I was thinking of building a list of good CDPD hot spots in New Jersey and throwing them on my website. Someone mentioned "I guess I'll patronize the resturants with good wireless access from now on."

I have found some great places, and some dead places as far as CDPD. Could be fun compiling a list rating the food vs the CDPD signal .

USA - New Jersey - Central - New Brunswick - On The Border - Food **** - Service **** - Prices *** - CDPD ****
USA - New Jersey - South - Shrewsbury - Americana Diner - Food **** - Service **** - Prices **** - CDPD *
USA - New Jersey - North - Madison - Starbucks - Food **** - Service **** - Prices ** - CDPD ****

Cool Hot Spots & Dead Spots

I think it's a real good idea, especially in areas where the coverage is spotty.

I am in San Jose and wireless coverage can drive you to despair at times. Any kind of wireless community project like this would have all sorts of peripheral benefits.

I would start with dead spot warnings first as these will really put a crimp in your ability to communicate and do business.

Thumbs up

When I attend PC Expo in June I'll be checking out some of NYC...the irony of a big electronics/computer show is that so many people are using cell phones and wireless devices that few can get on at all! That was certainly the case in Las Vegas at CES! ( I didn't go to that, but was in Vegas for another convention and access around town was much easier after CES closed! That was my 1st week using the YY service...a very good test!!)

My own area in Maryland is very spotty...I could post some good and bad spots now, if we had a central list somewhere(...on PropellerHead's site...? <g> )

It's a great idea!

Linda

Lightbulb Ok, Maybe it wasn't a dumb idea...

I'll put together an index for sorting the data on my site. If you folks provide the following field data, we are on our way:

Country (Assuming USA)
State
Region or county (Central, N, S, E, W, Montgomery, Bucks, etc)
Town
Landmark/s
Establishments
Comments on establishment/area
CDPD rating on a scale from 1 to 5 (5 being best)
Date of rating (for future update tests).

This might be good, or a PITA depending on how this works out.

Woodbridge Center Mall, Woodbridge, NJ USA

Good reception on the second floor central intersection of the four wings by the atrium.

No signal to low signal at Radio Shack.

Minimal signal at Scotto's pizza.
