Red face

Ok, I have my Visor Deluxe, it works perfectly at home. I wanted to set it up at work as well, so that all my addresses from work and home would be available on my visor. Well, I got the visor working on my work PC, sort of.........

The problem is that even though it says it is syncing my address book, and notes, and everything else, the only thing it is actually syncing is the email in my inbox. It doesn't transfer any of it's information from anything else. I went into sync manager settings and they are set to the following:

Mail: Synchronize the files
Datebook: Synchronize the files
Address Book: Synchronize the files
To Do List: Synchronize the files
Memo Pad: Synchronize the files
Expense: Synchronize the files
Install: Synchronize the files
Install Service Templates: Synchronize the files
System: Synchronize the files

And, like I say, it syncs everything from my home PC.

Any help would be extremely appreciated!

Wade,

Are you sure you're syncing to the same "user" (hotsync name) that you think is being synced? (Geeze, could that be any more unclear? )

Obviously, the hotsync is working at home. So the hotsync name in the handheld and your desktop are the same.

At work, could it be that you've somehow ended up syncing to a different name on the desktop, but you have your normal id's data displayed? Thus the effect that hotsync isn't doing anything.

Check the "User:" dropdown in the Palm Desktop software (upper right of the window) and see if you have more than one user available there.

Good luck!

Ok, on my work computer, I have only one username listed in the Palm Desktop software. I'm pretty sure I used the same username at home!?!?!

Do you have any other ideas I can try today?

Thanks,
Wade

Are you using the Palm Desktop at home and at work? You may also try once to have Handheld overwrite Desktop to get the stuff to the dt. Then see if modifications work.

Sounds like you don't have Pocket Mirror installed correctly. I don't use Pocket Mirror so I'm sorry I can't be of more help.

Thank you all for your help. I was able to get it working. For some reason, pocket mirror was installed automatically at home, but wasn't at work. So I didn't have pocket mirror installed at work. I did that, and everything was OK!

Thanks for all the help!

Question

H E L P 1! ! !

I am a first time PDA user. I've had my Visor for three days. I was able to Hot Sync (HS) some address records on Wednesday at home. But when I tried to Hot Sync at work today it worked fine until I downloaded some files to the Palm Desktop. When I tried to HS then, it said I had connection problems. Perhaps I need to delete all the files I downloaded today and maybe it will work again. I hate the thought of not being able to do ant downloading a home this weekend.

Does anyone have any suggestions to relieve my frustrations?

AmbassadorB:

Try a soft reset. It seems to fix sudden HotSync problems about 75% of the time.

I have hot synch problems almost daily it seems. I have serial cradle to an NT box at work and USB to 98 at home. On USB I find I have to pin-reset (soft reset) at work I find that either restarting HotSync Manager or just rightclicking on it's icon and selecting anything (USB, Serial, whatever) kick-starts it into action. Go figure.

Check the threads. There is a registry hack that resolvs those problems. I was having it to, and i did the reg hack, and now everything is working great.
