Lightbulb BRILLIANT IDEA! Security module!

I'm a genius and you know it (not that I need to be "certified by VC") but anyway here is my idea:

A security module. It only allows your visor to operate while it is in place. No more "GET OF MY VISOR!" Have other modules? If it's in place, it's easy to turn off the security and insert another module.

It would have a string attached to you could attach it to a piece of clothes or something, and sinse you are carrying it around everywhere you go, seperated from your visor, it would also have backup module capabilities!!!

perhaps a chain or one of those retractable, "unbreakable" cords?

Security WITHOUT Wires!

Actually, I have been thinking about a 'biometric' security module...
It's rather easy to convert a ccd for use with fingerprint scanning these days. We could have a module that would not allow the unit to run unless it detected the owner's fingerprints. (I've seen similar devices for logging in to PC's at staples and CompUsa). This wouldn't be so hard to implement, but the cost would most likely be prohibitive...

EXACTLY! I was going to say that but I didn't know how to write it. Just what I was thinking!

Java Ring

Wasn't there supposed to be a Springboard module that read a Java ring button for security purposes? What ever happened to that?

Thumbs down Maybe vaporware

Could be vaporware. Here is the URL to the module in question: http://www.ibutton.com/visors/index.html but I don't see any mention if these are actually available.

The module does not seem to be like the hoped-for security module described by ernieba1 above that locks the Visor, but more of a way to secure data on the Visor.

One-wire interface

Actually, if you follow the link printed on the Springboard module in the photo, http://www.aag.com.mx/visor.html, you'll see that they're offering one-wire interface development kits (including a thermistor to make an electronic thermometer that measures to 600 degrees C) for $99.95. And they take PayPal. The kit includes the springboard module, iButton, and a CD-ROM with sample apps and C source. Even shows you how to debit e-cash from a Java button using the Visor. Pretty cool. If I had an extra C-note I could see playing with this thing.
Okay, upon a few minutes' meditation, I went ahead and ordered the darn thing. I already use a Java iButton for Internet security on my PC, so it will be fun to play with this thing. I'll let you know how it works (or doesn't). My main concern is documentation. The company is in Mexico and their Web site has a bit of "Spanglish" tone to it.
