I also use a Data Suit by Body Glove zipper case for my VDX. As for it's bulletproofness, it's pretty squishy and provides a bit of give at the sides and corners since it's not snug against the Visor. I've dropped mine plenty of times with no issues.

I've had my VDX since New Year's Eve, 1999. The painted buttons are getting a little worn looking. Other than that, it looks like new.

Although... My screen is really loose (a lot looser than when I got it) and I'm not sure how to fix it. I've opened it up and can't really see a way to secure it.

I was using the term "bulletproof" figuratively.

The neoprene they use is very dense, so there is a lot of natural shock-absorption there. Then, both halves some type of rubber ribbing going around the inside edges. That what gives the case its "bounce". I feel that the "soft but dense" design gives just as much protection as a hardcase would if dropped. Youd feel the pain if it was stepped on though. Check one out at Staples. It's a steal at $20.

As I mentioned in my first post, I am putting the velcro on the snapcover that came with the visor, clipping to the cover to th back of the unit, and putting the whole thing in the case. That's giving me even more rigidity. (and keeping adhesive residue off the visor)

I also "velcroed" my hardcover to the case.

I think a lot of people don't even think of that. I have several Visor coworkers with Velcro on the back of the Visors. When they saw mine, they were quite surprised.

Yeah it works well. If attached directly to the visor, ripping that super-strong velcro every day has got to put additional stress on the unit's casing.

I have my Vdx with me all the time in the EB Slipper with screen protector since December 2000. It's in very good shape except a slight scratch on the screen (from the pre-screen protector era).

Don't know how "bulletproof" leather is... Hope I never find out.

How much bulk does the slipper case add?

The case on my VDX got pretty banged up before I upgraded to a Prism - a couple of drops to concrete will do that to you.

My Prism was also getting ugly, mostly just the paint problem - then the case cracked, and I got HS to send me a new one. Now it's pristine.

AYA

AYA--The edge is strong! I was just bounding up the concrete staircase in our building--in a hurry, and at the top I jumped (my keycard is in my wallet, and I can usu jump about half a foot to activate the door). Of course, I usually keep my visor in my pants pocket, so jumping is no problem. My new edge, goes in my shirt pocket. Or in this case, flying out of it. EEK. Lands flat on it's back about three feet away (and about 1/4 foot from tumbling down the 20 floors!)...

...She's in perfect condition!

The slipper is very tight fitting and it doesn't really add any bulk.

Does it add much weight?

I had the same problem. Alerted Handspring and they sent me a new one. The new one they sent me had an incredibly loose battery cover and the stylus would fall out if you turned it upside down. Third time was a charm. Contact them and see what they say.

Trav

Oh....maybe don't tell them you opened it!

I suppose this question is directed to me.

No, the slipper doesn't add much weight either. The case is really thin and fits the Visor really snuggly. I use it for carrying my Visor around rather than protecting it.
