Exclamation

Does the GeoDiscovery have road-level maps with any detail?

They said that they have maps for us Canadians(!!!) and the rest of the world.
But if they have the maps for the WHOLE world, I would guess it's not road level...

Any Comments?!?

We are still early in our development and weren't planning on an "announcement" so soon. Our product announcement, along with a description of all of the features will be released on June 21st.

But since some of the word is out we want to respond as well as we can. We have added a FAQs section to our web site and a link where you can submit questions. We want to be as responsive as possible and keep the lines of communcation open.

As to the maps we are committed to having a variety of maps available for the Geode, these include street level maps and topo maps.

If you want to be the first to know what is happening at GeoDiscovery then sign up for the email update or apply to become a beta user at www.geodiscovery.com.

Thanks for all of the great feedback.

Lightbulb

My guess is that the "Chief Customer Evangelist" moniker is an old Silicon Valley trick. Because tech companies in the Valley are (justifiably) paranoid about having their staff gutted by headhunters, they tell their employees to come up with some creative name like "Senior Software Shaman" or what-have-you. That way, when a headhunter looks up a company's software project manager, they can't find it.

My job is to represent the customer's needs to the company. I "evangelize" the needs of the customer to the company, rather than the other way around...that's the sales guys job!

So you don't need to worry that I will come knocking on your door!

Question

Joe, I was just wondering if you'll be able to use other GPS Palm software with your springboard. I'm a big fan of Quo Vadis (which as you know was originally teamed with the forever delayed HandyGPS) and would like to use it with whatever GPS module I end up purchasing. If it won't work with Quo Vadis, may I suggest that you guys check it out and emulate it as much as possible. Thanks...

Best answer I can give at this time is really just restating one of the FAQs on our site.

We think you'll love our software, but we understand that love of software is subjective, so we will provide APIs or other code that will allow other developers to use the hardware and/or software.

Thanks for your suggestion.

Hi,
I can tell you that all Quo Vadis versions work so far on Visor with any GPS. As soon as we get a sample we will make sure that it will work with Geode too...!

Talking

Well, I, for one, am impressed to see Mr. Free here on VC. If he's read many of the Springboard threads he has seen that this can be a tough crowd.

Thanks, Joe!
