Exclamation

I've had my Visor for about 2 months now. I had a Palm for about 3 years prior to that. In the 3 years of using the Palm both with and without screen protection I never scratched the screen.

In 2 months using my Visor with the HS stylus (the metal one that came with my Ice Deluxe) there are scratches in the graffiti area. There is actually one pretty good sized scratch that I can "feel" when using the stylus in that area. In closely examining the tip of my stylus I noticed a mold line approxiately 1/8" from the tip that runs around the circumference. I'm thinking this mold line scratched the screen (I've never used anything other than the HS stylus with my visor).

Anyway, I called HS Customer Support to inquire about a replacement. I was told that since the screen is scratched it would cost me $85.00 to replace the unit. I can't see spending $85.00 just because of scratches. I asked for a new stylus. They're shipping one out - apparently it may be the original plastic stylus - the rep. said they're switching back to plastic from metal due to some issues with the metal stylus (she actually said rusting!).

Anyway, kind of disappointing that they won't replace it for nothing considering their stylus caused the problems - but I'm just not in the mood to fight over something as trivial as scratches.

Just curious - anyone else see the mold line I described and have scratching issues?

Tim

Yup, people noticed.

Hit the "search" link on one of these discussion pages, enter Plastic Stylus as the search terms, search all forumns and archives, and note the 60+ hits.

Big problem.
