Cool

I got a Prism for x-mas. I have a ton of software, but much of it is in B&W. (duh!) I have some stuf in color, but I thought it would be cool to ask the colective what are your favorite colors apps and where is the best place to get them (now counting palmgear.com, that is a given.)

I like Zap2016 ALOT! It is incredible and looks better on my Prism than any game on Game boy color.

WWI Ace from Astraware is also very cool, but game play tends to be unrealistic with the wrap-around screen.

James at Seahorse Software worked overtime when the IIIc came out to make all his games in color. I have been a 4Corners solitare freak for years and it ROCKS is color. Euchre and Pyramid are must haves also.

The free software available from Handpsring at http://www.handspring.com/color is a good place to start. The photo album is very cool, and the Active Sky movie player is a killer app for showing off the new screen and faster processor. Don't forget CLock Solitaire (kinda dumb, but stranglety addicting) and color klondike. I strongly reccomend you read the help for klondike as I found features that I would not have found otherwise.

Dragon Pinball is also in color and seems much easier to see over the greyscale.

Connect 4 By Sean Corrigan http://www.geocities.com/siliconvalley/park/1621
Is NOT actually in color, but I mention it here because now repaints the whole screen everytime someone plays a turn (I guess it did before, too) but now it is very distracting and much harder to play. I dunno it there is anything that Sean can do, but I intend to e-mail him today.

Anyone else have any great color apps to share? Please fill us in!

Lightbulb

Try these on for size.

Fireviewer, FireConverter and Video Converter.

http://www.firepad.com

It's PC only right now, but a Mac version was announced. The only draw back is Fireviewer doesn't use external ram, where as AlbumToGo does. Firepad told me they are working on that so soon enough you'll be able to store images outside of your precious internal ram.

Enjoy your Prism. I am loving mine

OK, I've just received my new Prism, but I've already got some favorites.

My favorite is probably SimCity. I also Like Zap 2016, but that's everyone's favorite. Also, I've never been able to get really excited about playing it for very long... probably because I suck.

I also really like (and was surprised to find them in color) Bubblet, Billiard, ChessGenius, Micro Chess, and Tetris for games. The most addictive is probably Bubblet... strangely fun and addicting. My wife really likes it and she *HATES* computer games (probably because of my Half-Life and Diablo II addictions ;-). Also, Billiards Color is extremely nicely done... can't argue with the quality of the graphics.

For applications, Tiny Sheet definitely takes the cake. What a nice looking application. This looks as good as excel, and is the application to show off if you're trying to convince a non-believer that your visor is really more than a gameboy.

Cool Fav Color app

I found a new game that has consumed my life. Rally 1000 is based on the old Miles Bourne card game. I found it at Palm Gear yesterday almost by accident. The colors are vivid and truely enhance the game. I warn you however, this game is totaly FREAKING addictive! I cannot put it down!

Thumbs up

SimCity, Galax and Gobble are my favorite color games. AlbumToGo is great for viewing 16-bit photos. The creators of WordSmith have pledged to support color in their word processor.

The ultimate color app has to be Avantgo hands down! If you "subscribe" to their RollingStone.com channel you get a color shot w/every article. You can also set the VisorCentral page to include color images with the articles too. Now you're rockin'!

Here are the color-enabled apps i'm running right now:
Biplane Ace
*Atomsmash*
Bubblet
Bzzz!
Chroma
Fire!
Froggy
Nomess
Hoards
Pacman
Simcity
*Space Trader*
Tetris c
*Zap!2016*
Liberty (kinda color)
Mandelbrot test
Handspring photo albulm
Burning
*Chrome*
Avantgo
*Blazer*
DateBk4
Memo PLUS
Todo PLUS
Tealpaint
All of these apps are worth checking out but the ones with the stars are especially nice. A search on Palmgear should turn up the latest versions

Cool DBook4?

I have DateBook4 but I see no color for it. Is there some sort of update or perhaps a feature preferance I am not aware of?

Wink

After putting in a to do or an appointment go to the details page. Next to the word Category should be a small box with the word font in it. Press that and it takes you to a color picker where you can pick the color for the appointment as well as the font size. Also make sure the Datebook version is 4.0c.

I really love the Prism and all the new color applications that are coming out. Astraware (aka Zap 2016) just came out with a very nice version of Mahjohngg and Digital Fiction just came out with a pretty nice 3D Racing game called Race Fever.

Both of these are worth checking out... I played Race Fever a lot on my Visor Deluxe, but stopped when I got the Prism. The only B/W game I play now is Dopewars ;-). I'm glad they came out with a color version, and it looks very nice. It really beats Vrally (?) hands down for car control and general racing feel.

Anyway, worth checking out.

If you guys like color graphics and want a nice dopewars type trading game but also one that has action built in it, check this out. This game is really the old Space Trader game from the old PC/C64 days.

It is called VOID. Find it at http://www.pdabusiness.com/games.html
It got good reviews at ZDNET.

I have had it a long time and ran it the other day for the first time since getting the Prism day and found it is color Okay it is obvious from the site that it is color but I have not looked at it for awhile .

I have not really played it as much as I want to as I have not had time to learn all the ins and outs, but it looks cool. Nice online manual. Looks very interesting. Let me know if you guys like it.

To tell the truth I am shocked no one has mentioned this one. Or if they did I missed it

Are you kidding me? The controls on RaceFever is awkward and counter intuituive IMO. They should have allowed the end user to configure the controls. Overall its a nice game though.

One of my favorite color apps apart from the one mentioned here is TealPaint from Tealpoint.com. I am not an artist, but its cool to doodle in vibrant colors every now and then....and they say that we didn't color on a Palm.

Talking

ZioGolf is kewl... brickbreak is also good... One game I don't like is billiard because the colors of the balls are wrong. How hard would it to have programmed the mgame to make the 2 ball blue, the 3 ball red and so forth...

Oh Yeah... BubblePuzzle is good too!
