After tumbling from my pocket a couple of times and suffering no ill effects I posted a thread extoling the ruggedness of the Visor Deluxe (in the face of several posts to the contrary).

Overhearing a colleague gripe about losing styluses I posted a poll about how many styli people had lost.

Over the past week I lost my first stylus (while drinking a beer at lunch), and today while trying on a new shirt, my VDX flew from my breastpocket to the dressing room floor, shattering my screen completely (it even had its "protective" faceplate cover on).

Do you believe in the Visorcentral Curse? Where are Scooby Doo and the gang when you need them? Are there any other victims? Should we form a support group?

Hmmm... I don't think it's a VisorCentral curse. I think it's just fate.

Were you still drinking a beer at the time?

Stop on over to the Palm Graveyard site if you really want a few (some pretty funny) horror stories...

The Curse Exists!

For those who have followed my endeavor to acquire a VDX, you may recount my many posts such as:

"I need a VDX!"
"Guess who got a VDX?"
"How I almost became the owner of a VDX!"

*titles subject to change

It always seems right after I post that I have one, something bizarre or well..... something bizarre happens like the seller falls off the planet, etc. So I'm keeping my mouth shut.

On the other hand, submit it to the Palm Graveyard, which I submitted my original VII series (it had a defective memory chip, Palm happily replaced!)

You forgot the "I don't want to choose yes or no and Jinx myself" option on the poll.

Keefer,

Go to www.gethightech.com

These people are great. My wife broke her screen and I replaced it for $45.

Hloakes,
Is the digitizer/glass top all that is needed to fix a broken screen?
Why would someone pay HSpring 80$ when these sell for 55$?

Is it because it would void the warranty?

Premium Paid

I broke my Visor at 6PM on a Monday. My organization's annual meeting was on a Thursday. I gladly paid Handpring the $85 to send me a new unit (which remarkably arrived on Tuesday)so I would be sure to have all my meeting notes and databases.

Given more time I may have attempted the fix myself, but I gladly shelled out the extra $25 to eliminate the possibility of screwing it up.

I believe the units from are used and you have to do the work yourself. It was really no big deal because they give you step-by-step instructions. As far as the warranty, the thing is ussually not covered if you drop it, so no loss there.

How did you get it for $45? I checked out the site and is shows for $75....

My screen isn't working anymore (glass is ok, but digitizer is acting funny) so I'm checking out my options...

That was what they were charging at the time.

My VDx did the same thing so I replaced it with a Platnum.

I found it out, the international users get send to a different site...
Where a Grade B only costs $40 + $5 shipping...
Grade A's are $50 + $5 shipping...
So it is cheaper for non US customers (finally!)

But maybe the US site sells new screens and the international one second hand ones...
