Well, given the direction of this thread lately, I'd say we're all on board with this guiding principle.

Remember: All these Visors are yours, except Europa... ATTEMPT NO LANDINGS THERE.

I was (as many people have properly guessed) referring to 2010. It is an amazing (in my opinion) story by Arthur C. Clarke.

I especially liked bookrats version:

"Remember: All these Visors are yours, except Europa... ATTEMPT NO LANDINGS THERE."

Very, very good. A Europa visor. It just keeps getting better.

Just got the Handspring newsletter. They're giving away free VisorPhones with every handheld. I'd say they're clearing inventory for a connected Visor model. I'm not saying when they'll release it. I'm just saying it looks like they're clearing inventory.

Ok, Alan's married, save "something wonderful" talk for another thread. Back on topic: If it had a detachable edge-like springboard slot, would you get it? Or could there be something better?

Lightbulb Visor Adventure: Sept 4th announcement?

Looking at the VisorAdventure schedule, I'm noticing
a large 6-day blank space between Sept 1 and Sept 8.
Seeing as Sept 1 is in SF, that leaves _plenty_ of room
for a "suprise" visit/announcement at the
Handspring Headquarters early that week. Just my prediction...

A Europa Visor could be water-resistant to 100000 m, but casing would be a bland beige and would inherently have lots of cracks in it. An Io Visor would be very cool! Think, the Io visor would come in many, many colors (red, green, yellow, white, silver, brown, purple, and graphite). To be able to properly view an image of Io, it would have to have a color screen. The Io visor would have to be resistant to heat up to 2000 K to sustain an accidental drop into active lava.

I remember writing a short story for the school paper about a surveyor on Io using a PDA to make his measurements. Might also need a screen wiper to clear any falling ash and sulfur from the screen.

Dynomite. I had a feeling that "Visor" would be reserved for the expandable type of HS devices. Note on their WWW site that they refer to the "/visorfamily/" in their URLs.

Of course, this good news does not mean, necessarily, that no other units are on the horizon, no?

by buying a visor in germany you get a german tel. number for handspring, but fact is you dont talk to germany, you speak to the netherlands.

there is a support for replacing hardware in germany.

than there is another office in the switzerland but i dont know anything more about this office .... and there is an office in the uk.

mmmm I found this adress on a online search:

HANDSPRING BV,. 030-2320200
Kobaltweg 11 3542CE UTRECHT

'BV.' is the dutch equivalent of Inc. (or GMBH in Germany)

looking at the article about the TREO, the email i got seems to be ok. im wondering about the gsm specs. why should hs developing a dual band phone (900/1900) and not a worldwide tri band phone like the ericsson t39 i own (900/1800/1900)? here in europe 900 and 1800 are the most common frequencies. would not be able to use the treo because my telephone company use the 1800 frequency band. hs could only sell this phone to the half of people using a gsm phone ... how many of them do own a visor? looking at all the reviews here in europe about the visorphone, they all find fault with the 900/1900 combination ...

but now folks, which model is the colour one??? the $299 unit?

i read in the palmuser today, the most important con of the palm m500/m505 is their price. both units should be at least $50 off.

is hs to release a new highend model at a lower price?

thats not right toolkit,

bv. is not the equivalent of gmbh in germany. the equivalent is AG.
to get all the revenues of a foreign office, the foreign office is regularly a gmbh (in germany). an ag has an OWN ceo, coo and so on., a gmbh has a managing director.

I'm immeadiately put-off by the suggestion that the Treo doesn't have space for a springboard slot (nor is a SB adapter ala the Edge mentioned.) One of the main reasons I've stuck with HS as a customer & stockholder was the developement of the SBslot. The Palm VII is a POS & but the Blackberry-style keyboard looks great in the prelim pics. But we must have SB sized expansions. The larger format will allow for a 3-5 year advantage over Palm & other devices with a smaller expantion slot form factor.

No reason to get your panties in a twist, it's not a visor Handspring has long stated that they will not always be making JUST Palm OS based consumer devices. Looks like the beginning of another line of products, and not the end of the Visor family.

Go to his profile. Apparently, he just signed up today. And if he valued his privacy soooo much, why would he put his location?

Agreed -- from first glance, I'm assuming this is a separate line to compete with the Blackberry.
