Cool Finally have my car back!!!

After 4 months I finally have my car back...
I had an accident and after that everything that can go wrong did go wrong.
I won't bother you with the details, but it took all in all 4 months to get it back.
I am a happy camper!

It could've been worse, TK... just imagine if you had to go without your Visor for that long!

Mr. Kit, (That's an awesome nickname in my opinion )

If you can, details! But if you don't want to, that's ok. I just like stories,

ok, better get some coffee....

It all started with the stupid accident... We (my wife and I) went to IKEA to buy 2 lounge chairs. We bought them but needed to pick them up from the warehouse down the road.

The parking lot is below street level and has a bit of a bump in it (you go up, and then back down a bit.)

I figured since it was only a few hundred meters I didn't need my seatbelt (which is really weird for me because this was the first time I was in a moving car without my seatbelt on, irony at its best...) I drive up the ramp to the street, I see my wife putting on her seatbelt, I check traffic, a car from the right that turns in the parking lot.. I wonder 'should I put my seatbelt on' due to the momentum of uphill ramp followed by a downhill part I roll onto the street at <5 Mph/KMph. behind the car that turns into the parkinglot is a car that goes straight...
Because I am thinking about the seatbelt, I do not realize (till it is too late) that I'm still moving..
I roll onto the street, try too brake... too late... Kaboom, car parts everywhere...
Mind you this is in Australia, so traffic from the right hits you first...

I call the insurance, the car gets town... Now I dont have transport for the 2 chairs I just bought...then need to be delivered.. at extra $$$

We get a ride from the towtruck and order a cab for the last strech (we were at the other end of town, so it was quite an expensive cab ride)

We get back savely, nobody is hurt, just got a big fright that's all... we think...
This all happened on saturday.

On monday morning I receive an email that the insurance company my lease company is with went bankrupt... not good...
Luckily after a while there is an interim sollution because they found another insurance comp that takes over all their policies...including mine... This took about 3 week... so first 3 weeks, no car... We rented a car when needed and hoped for the best.

Once the insurance deal was solved they had to tow my car to the smash repair shop.. and guess what, the towtruck broke down, so another couple of days delay..

Car finally at the smash repair. They have to do an inventory... And send 2 people to do it...1 says it is a write off and the other says it is fixable...
So the insurance comp needs more time to figure this one out...

So when the smash repair finally gets the OK, we get a replacement car (after a month...)
This car is old Magna, but better than nothing...

just about all the parts needed to fix my car need to be shipped in from japan at 3 weeks each... Everytime they get a part they realize they need another part.. another 3 weeks waiting...
The old magna gets worse and worse wo we exchange it for a ford falcon with hail damage...

My wife drops me off at work and just around the corner hits a taxi..
The falcon was about a foot and a half wider than our car or the magna and the taxi suddenly stopped and she thought she went around it..

The falcon is now known as the bluesmobile...
Luckily the taxidriver was cool about it and so was the smash repair shop (there was only one small dent EXTRA too all the other dents..)

So after another couple of weeks we finally got news Our car is driveable...
We are still waiting for a couple of minir parts (headlight protectors etc.) but the car drives savely...

So in a couple of weeks we have a complete new front end to our forrester, fresh from the factory in Japan...

Right now we are happy is is (allmost) all behind us and glad we have our 'suby' back...

It is strange how 1 moment of lack of concentration can impact your life for so long...
I learned my lesson... Allways be 100% focused on the road, it only takes a second to get in an accident...

And the worst part about it is that I can't blame anybody, it was my fault that I hit the other car...

I guess all is well that ends well, but it sure was an expensive lesson...

Crikey, that's a long story going from bad to worse to slightly better to bad to worse. Unfourtunately I'm bad at thinking up things to say at these moments. Um...glad you're safe.
