Exclamation

My visor is crashing a lot. I think it's because a small piece of graphite from a mechanical pencil got inside it. How would I remove this piece of graphite?

If you have a Handspring deluxe stylus, unscrew the back end (not the tip that you write with) to reveal the screwdriver. Otherwise obtain a small jewler's philips screwdriver.

Remove the cover and any springboards (or the dummy one that comes with the Visor). Remove all 4 screws (2 on the bottom rear of the Visor, 2 at the top of the Springboard area)

SLOWLY separate the 2 halves. There is a ribbon cable connecting the two halves, be careful not to pull out or loosen either end.

That should be enough to let you shake out the pencil lead.

Good luck.

Unhappy

I tried opening it up a couple of hours ago. It opened fine, but I couldn't find the piece. I think it's on the underside of the main circuit board (it got in through the Reset hole) - which is secured by two screws that I can't get off. I'll try it again with a better screwdriver when I get home in a couple of hours. In the mean time...if I can't get it out, would Handspring remove it, and for how much? Is something like this covered in the warranty (forgetting the fact that I'll probably invalidate it by opening it)?

Thanks.
