Question

Has everyone been charged by handspring yet? I find it kind of odd that they claim to have shipped all of their first day orders yet have not bothered to charge us yet.

Yeah, me too. . . I checked and they hadn't billed my credit card, but when I called Handspring, the CSR (Mike) confirmed that my order had gone out last Friday (Oct. 15). What's going on? I'd love to get my Visor for free, but I'm acutally leary as to whether they have actually shipped it. . .

Hey Elbow, there are lots of people who have rec'd their visors but haven't been charged yet. Don't fret, I'm sure they won't forget to charge you...

I got all excited and posted about my card being charged...then I remembered that I paid for some airline tickets on that card.
Darn.

Red face

In order to check and see if I had been charged yet I hit up my Credit Card Companies website. While I don't have an actual charge from handspring yet there is a unknown $810 dollar HOLD on the credit card. Why is there an $810 hold for a $249 Product? Attempted to call Handspring a few times this afternoon for an explanation, nothing but busy signals.

Question

Last night I called to check whether the shipping map that's been floating around here is accurate. I was considering seeing a client out of the office, but b/c my Palm III is cradled only at work, I wouldn't have any opportunity to convert everything over until next week, and was hoping tom. would indeed be delivery day, as claimed by Handspring.

So I spoke to one of the CSR's, who told me that all of the first units shipped already, except "about 2,000, which were rejected due to credit card problems" -- of course, he added that he had no access to which ones were rejected, but if the card was rejected (wrong name on the account, incorrectly-recorded number, whatever) then it would be about another month before you got yours. Anyway, I checked to see whether I had been charged as of yet, and of course, I haven't <rolling eyes>.

I'm a bit confused as to how this whole situation has gotten so out of hand. I'm holding right now to see whether I can possibly get a tracking number, if applicable, or if they managed to screw up my order. If they screwed it up, I'm wondering whether I'll let loose or just cancel and go and buy a Vx.

Something which has been covered on the general board is whether this product can survive this kind of opening. It's rabid fools like us :-) who kept this whole thing afloat. In most cases, I would be among those who would have cancelled, but this seems like a great alternative to the 8MB Razor. However, if they screwed it up and think I'll wait another month, then I'll just skip it and have an 8MB Razor this afternoon. Enough aggravation with the on-hold times, the bogus shipping dates, the BS. Enough's enough.

So, if we happen to be one of the 2,000 users that have 'credit card problems', are they going to contact us? I ordered on 9/16 and haven't seen a package or a charge on my card. So, am I to understand that if Elroy in the call center didn't write my number down right, It's gonna be another month? I reckon not! This is the preverbial 'Last Straw'. If it's not here by Monday, I'm gonna make a call and cancel my order. I've hung in there as long as I could. I've 'understood' until I'm purple, but no more. I've got over 30 students that were waiting to order a Visor till they could see mine, oh well, if it ain't here by Monday, I guess they'll get to see my new Palm.

MelonBoy -- you might want to consider getting in touch with HS. I ordered 9/14 and had not been charged/no delivery yet, I was part of the "reject" crew because the CSR who originally took my order put down the wrong city/state/zip. I was told (another CSR promise, take it with a grain of salt) that they would express it to me because they screwed up.... I guess we'll see it it shows up next week.

RichF --

My credit card was charged about $810 as well -- the only difference is that I ordered THREE visors. Looks like they messed up your order.

Yikes.

Unhappy

I have to pile on here as well, if for no other reason than to vent my frustration. I ordered a VD in graphite on 9/16. I called Handspring on 10/14 just to make sure that they had all my information correct, after it was posted here that there were problems. They had my credit card number wrong, spelling of the ship-to town was incorrect as well as the ship-to zip code. The CSR keyed in (wrote down) the correct information, said everything was set. I was happy. I was even happier the next morning when Handspring announced they had started shipping. According to UPS shipping times I should have received my Visor yesterday if it was shipped on 10/18 (not even 10/15). When it didn't come today , I decided to call again. After about 90 minutes on hold I spoke to another CSR and asked her if she could help me understand why I didn't get my visor and why my credit card had not been charged, if indeed my unit shipped on the 15th as I expected it should have. She agreed that the unit should have shipped, but when she called up my record, the three mistakes that were there originally were still there! We went through the info again (twice)fixed this time (I hope) and she said that mine would go out with the next shipment, she offered to send it express for $3.00 more, I accepted. I pressed her for when the next shipment might be, she could only say that she didn't know. She added that if I hadn't got my unit by the end of next week that I should call back. ARRRGGGH!
I should admit, however, that Gillian (the CSR) was very nice, helpful and indicated that she would personally make sure that the information went through right this time (yea right).

still impatiently waiting....

Robelard, thanks for the advice, but I'm not calling them. I called a week or so ago (when they said there would be no confirmation emails for the early orders), and everything was ok. If they don't get things right, that's their problem, heck, by the time I got it straightend out, the TRG unit would be out anyway. If it don't show, they can consider me & my students as 'NON-Visor' users. That VA deal on the Vx is bound to be a good one. and the VII is only $499. hmmmm....
