I went to the ATL website, http://www.atlconnect.com/thirdpart.../connectors.htm with the interest of ordering a serial cable from them, but quickly became discouraged by their $65 minimum purchase, lack of an online ordering system, etc. However, I'm still interested in getting one, so if any of you folks feel courageous and plan on ordering one, I'd appreciate your getting an extra for me. Assuming you don't want to give it as a present (I never refuse presents), I'll PayPal you the money + S & H.

I already ordered one for myself (see my thoughts here). I sent them an email and inquired about the minimum and they waived it for me. Of course, I did order about $20.00 worth of other stuff as well. My suggestion would be to email them and see if they'll let you order just a single cable. What's the worst that can happen?... they say no, right? But it can't hurt to try.

parb33, please let me know if they will allow ordering only one cable. if not, i wouldn't mind ordering 2 cables and shipping you one (but not as a present...sorry).

ATL's serial cable will not work with devises that dont provide power. Most external modems and the Earthmate GPS receiver dont. I called tech support at ATL to see how the circuitry gets its power and he said from the serial device. If the stock cradle works with the serial devise the Cable will work, as they are the same electronics. I talked with tech support at Markspace and their cable gets its power from the Visor so it will work with external modems and the Earthmate GPS receiver.

Thanks for all the quick responses. After reading all your posts, and doing a little of my own research, I think I'm gonna go with the Mark/Space Datacord after all.
