Question

I am considering replacing my Vdx which is beginning to fall apart, with a prism, but I am hesitant due to its use of rechargable batteries. Dont get me wrong, I love the idea of using rechargables, but I think one should have the option of using alkalines in an emergency. I am a medical student and can be stuck at the hospital for days at a time. My visor gets heavy usage every day and I am questioning how long a prism would last me on one charge. My greatest fear is being stuck at the hospital for 2+ days and having my prism run out of power with no ability to recharge it. I know they now sell battery powered rechargers which is a step in the right direction, but it still seems a nuisance for anything more than emergency use.

It probably won't last "days", it will only last 6 hours of constant use. If rechargeable battery packs or wall adapters aren't an option then maybe you'd be better off getting a Platinum or an Edge.
