Platinum Screen vs. Edge

I am dumping my iPAQ for a palm because of software needs. How different are these screens?

Very similiar, really. The other differences really ought to factor more in your decision.

But, in my experience, the Edge screen is slightly better (esp. in terms of clarity and backlight) than the platinum.

Yeah, the backlight is almost useable.

I think the plat screen has higher contrast

I have both and side by side the Edge has a more black and white appearance to me. I wish I could put an Edge screen on my Plat.

I have to agree -- even though both are 16 greyscale, I find the Edge slightly clearer and more black and whitish with the Plat a little greenish brownish--
