Question Bought memoplug cf / am i missing something??

Just bought my memoplug cf and a 32mb cf card. I thought every thing seemed self explanitory. I was wrong! I moved splash photo and all my pictures over the cf card after making a new directory. I can see all the files on the cf card but I can NOT make splash photo run so I can't view any of my pictures. I hope I am just being stupid, Can some one help me please?

To run SplashPhoto OFF the card oyu need to plop down another $10 for an applicaiton called PiDirect. (www.memplug.com) This neabls you to run any program or read only database off the card.

I think splashPhoto uses VFS (or even native memplug file system), so you can update your memplug with the latest update (again www.memplug.com ) and than keep splashphoto on the visor, and the pics on the card..

hope this helps

I really appreciate the help. I moved the splash photo program back to my prisms ram, I left the pictures on the cf card. Now when I go to splash photo I get a blank white screen I still dont understand how to view my pictures. I feel pretty stupid.

ok. First do you have the latest version (2.7 off http://www.splashdata.com/splashphoto/index.htm )

Do you have the latest version of the memplug update? (I think it's 1.63 off of www.memplug.com)

Is VFS enabled through PiVfS manager (this is only avaible on a recent memplug version)

According to the SplashPhoto manual, it should work now.

I would start with your pictures in the root directory ie, the / . And if that works try moving them to sub dirs.

hope this helps!

Lets break this down to two problems.

1)Getting SplashPhoto to read the pictures on you card.
2)Getting SplashPhoto to run from a card.

For number 1, you will need the following:

1)Latest MemPlug updater - (not really a requirement but might as well get the latest version to start with) version 1.63
2)PiVFSMgr - version beta 0.4 or beta 0.5 (if you can find it)
3)SplashPhoto - version 2.7

Once you install all of this software, activate PiVFSMgr. Then use PiMover to move all of your photos back into memory. Then run SplashPhoto. Use SplashPhoto to move the photos into the card by using the Move Images menu option. You should now have your photos in the card.

For number 2, you will need a program that can run a program from a card. You have several options:

1) PiDirect - You can move your executable with PiMover into the \Palm\Pidirect directory. With this, the built in launcher will be able to see the program.

2) Launcher III - This is a replacement for the standard launcher. With it, you can move your executable to the \Palm\Launcher directory. With this, Launcher III will be able to run programs. The built in Launcher will not, however.

3) PowerRun - This program will create a "shortcut" (kind of like Windows) that will stay in your Visor's memory. The actual application (and its configuration and data files if you so choose) will be moved into your card. When you run the shortcut, PowerRun will copy the program and any datafiles into memory and run the program. When the program is exited, any files that were changed by the program will be copied into the memory card and then all files copied into memory will be deleted. This method works with the original launcher as well as any other launcher.

There are other launcher type programs out there, but these are the only two I am familiar with. Hope this helps you.

Fare thee well,
