What do you think about the eyemodule?

When the first eyemodule came out, I was really excited about it. However, after reading many reviews and posts in VC in decided not to buy it. Now, round two is here for the eyemodule and I might buy it this time, but should I wait for the eymodule 3?

Not enough change

If IDEO had gone just a little farther, I might consider replaceing my EM1. But with only...

- a slightly tilted lens (I want a pivoting one)
- no zoom (I want zoom)
- no macro (I want macro)
- larger images that are too big for for the Visor screen, and too small to look impressive against dedicated digital camera pictures (I want 1024x768, and on-module removeable storage for pictures)
- a lens cap (I found/made my own for my EM1)
- and no one who want to buy my EM1

... the EM2 isn't enough of an improvement to justify me spending another $200.

My EM1, though, does exactly what I need it to do. If you can find discount prices on EM1s, and only need photos on your Visor, then it is perfect. Get an EM1.

I disagree.
I wouldn't wait for EM3, unless you're ready to wait 9mo.-1yr. (I think the amt. of time bet. EM1 & EM2)
Yeah, a couple of +'s would have been nice.
Yeah, some kind of EM1 --> EM2 break / rebate would have been nice -- but I saw a bunch of EM1s on sale on eBay for about $90 the other day; if you can get anywhere in the neighborhood, it's almost like a rebate.

If EM2's LARGE images used MUCH more on-board mem. than the 187k of EM1's, I'd be ticked (esp. since EM1's LARGE were 1/2 their image size). And I'd be ticked if there were no cheap mem. options (as opposed to HS's $79/8Mb, etc.)

But these 2 things came about almost perfectly in sync -- to subtract at least 2 ticks from me, anyway. Even the absurdly huge mm's can just be off-loaded to a CF card now. C'mon, guys, it's easy to trot out all-or-nothing standards.
But even "the great iPaq," for ex. can't shoot movies (or even just pix!) at present.
And it's not really fair to judge such a tiny SB w/a dedicated digicam that's, what, 10x it's size?

And w/CompUSA's present AvantGo 10% rebate -- it's only $180; this is like A WEEK after the thing was released! Let's cut IDEO/Blocks a little slack.

I got my eyemodule2 yesterday in CompUSA and I love it (got the 10% off from AvantGo) Lighting is important and white light works best. Also, you need to learn how to take pictures otherwise you'll get bad ones. Now, I would like to know if anyone has successfully moved pictures from the Visor to the FC module or the Flash Memory Module.

It looks like many people are getting the Eyemodule 2. I've been taking some pictures and I don't know why some pictures look much better in the PDA than in the desktop, especially full size pictures.

Overall, I love it..!

I purchased the eyeModule shortly before eyeModule 2
was announced. I purchased it after reading many reviews and opinions from users. I did not expect it to replace a regular digital camera. When I upgrade to the Prism I will definitely buy the eyeModule 2 (or 3 if it's out). However, the eyeModule is fine for my Deluxe and is perfect for the uses to which I put it. It adds functionality to my Visor.

Basically, and bottom line, I enjoy it: it's fun.

You can move the picture database to flash, but you will not be able to view the pictures unless the database is in the internal memory. I have tried and it crashes. I am using the 16 Meg Hagiwara module.

out with the old in with ......

I am all about picking up an eye-module2 after I find someone to sell my eyemodule1 to. I dont have my eyemodule1 but a month or so and already I want to replace it. Ironic.

I had Eyemodule 1 and just got Eyemodule2. A nice upgrade. The color pictures for eyecontact database and the 5 second color videos of my dog and my girlfriend are worth the extra bucks. An upgrade rebate from EM1 would have been nice, but what are you going to do? Now my girlfriend has my original eyemodule for her new Prism, and she is already jealous of my video capabilities. Also, I just installed SleepPicks so that I can see my puppy when I turn my Prism on and off. The ACDSee software that came with Eyemodule2 was perfect for converting the 160x120 color images to the 160x160 256k color image necessary for SleepPicks (all other formats cause fatal error).

I also think that the Eye 2 is great. The beauty is: it's a part of your Visor, not an attachment of a PDA. So handy, and so cool!

She's a doll -- killer photo. Can I meet her? (Don't tell me she's your sister!)
She's even clear, despite the b.g. showing some visible camera shake.
I was in CompUSA yesterday, and checked out the EM2 box for the 1st time. It's basically the same data as the Web site, etc. -- but I almost threw down the $200, even though I really don't have it right now. (Can you say: "Dot-com bloodbath?)
