Question

Just recently, after my Visor Deluxe has been turned off or unused for long enough to turn itself off, attempting to restart it fails. The following message appears on the screen:

FATAL ERROR
Preferences.c,Line:166
Pref DBOpenError
Reset

Does this indicate a problem requiring:
a) deletion of an added application or hack?
or
b) replacement of the unit?

Thanks in advance.

This, or something like it, has been happening to me lately. I fix it by doing something between a hard and a soft reset (not sure what it's called). Restart your Visor with a paperclip while pressing the "up" button. Wait a minute, the let go of the button. Your welcome screen should come up, with all of your applications intact but some of your settings screwed up.
It's worth a try...

Searching this site for the error message string led me to the answer. Removing DSHack solved the problem.

BTW it was version 2.1.1, which, according to the Visorcentral incompatibility list, is supposed to work.
