Well, the subject tells you the essential facts of the situation. After returning home from a hard night's meeting I needed to change my batteries and when I did the Visor wouldn't restart! Hitting the soft reset simply brought up the Palm logo - which flashes. Changing to another set of batteries brings up a mottled screen with the Palm logo beneath the mottling.

A phone call to "tech support" took me through everything I knew to do and then blamed "unknown third party applications" which, it was suggested, I should load one-at-a-time following a hard reset!

OK, I just backed up this morning, so that wouldn't be a tragedy...but I would lose the notes and other new data added from this evening's meeting, so I'm trying to avoid the hard reset option.

Any ideas? I'm not touching this thing until I see whether anyone else has had a similar situation.

Hey - maybe I can patent the flashing logo!

Sometimes a warm reset works (a soft reset with the up key held down the whole time) It's happened to me with the flashing screen, Most of the time I figure screw it and I hard reset (i've got almost all of my stuff on an 8mb module)

I was going to tell you to do a warm reset, but my tradition is to do whatever I tell anyone else to do when possible, so I do a warm reset. BINGO, I get the flashing Palm logo, so I spend the next half hour trying to get around the logo, NADA. So finally I pull the battery for a coupla minutes, reinstall, I get a screen full of random pixels with the Palm logo buried underneath it all. I wracked my brains for another few minutes, Brain finally told me to say F*** it and I did a hard reset, reinstalled from Backup module, and so far all is well. Don't feel bad for me as my Backup module saved the day, but I truly am sorry I couldn't figure out a way to help you get past that fricken flashing Palm logo, what a pain that can be!!! Anyway, hope somebody smarter than me can help you out, I think I need to go to bed now :P .
