Brando Screen Protectors

Ok guys first thing first....I love this product bravo the the peeps at Brando for their great work.

Now my question, as we know these little dudes are washable well has anyone done it??

ow did you go dong it and did it affect the protector in any way (besides getting it clean)

Any info would be great

I use the Brando protector for my Edge and I love it! This is the first screen protector that I have used to protect the entire screen (I only protected the graffiti area before the Brando).

I have washed my Brando several times with no problems. I wash it under lukewarm water with soap on both sides. Make sure you remember which side is sticky, cause you don't want to accidently dry it (I did that and had to wash it again). Then I rinse both sides and lay the non-sticky side on a paper towel to get off the excess water. After I do that I "blow" the water off the sticky side with compressed air. I never get all the water off of that side, though, but I have found that it is easier to apply that way, anyway. The remaining water comes out the sides with any air under the protector. I use a paper towel around the sides to get the excess water. I haven't had any problems at all.

I am thinking about buying another one, just because I like it so much.

Ditto- I LOVE the Brando Screen Protector! If Handspring ever decided to offer protectors from their site or with their devices, this is the one I think they should go with.

I have 2. Washed the first one (lots of soap and water!) and made the mistake of trying to dry the sticky side off with a paper towel. Oops! Left TONS of lint and debris that was difficult to subsequently remove.

The trick is to establish the closest thing you can to a 'Clean Room' setting- no dust, lint, or debris floating around.

By following a procedure similar to what has been mentioned earlier, you get great results- just take steps to minimize dust and debris on the sticky side, or betwen the protector and the screen!

I need a bit of clarification. I checked out the comments on the Brando website and the Gadgeteer review. They both said that these are "textured" and give a "paper-like" feel. The Gadgeteer reviewer complained about a slight "milky" look hers gave her Palm. Yet people here say it's slick. Personally, I prefer the glassy feel of the bare screen. Also, I have a Prism, and I know textured protectors like the WrightRight cause refraction rainbows on colored screens. So, which is it, are these smooth or textured, and do they work well on a color screen? Thanks for the info.

Here's my opinion:

I think that "milky" is a good description of how the screen protector looks when on the screen. I have tried Writerights with the anti-glare texture and did not like them at all. They diminished the screen quality way too much for me. I have also tried Writerights for color devices and I thought that they were way too shiny. The Brando protectors have a very minimal texture that very lightly fogs the display, but it's not annoying and does not take away from the appearance. I am very particular and for that reason, I did not use screen protectors at all until I found the Brando.

I wouldn't call the screen protector "slick." It has enough texture to give a more solid feeling when writing on the screen. The stylus does not slip and slide around the screen by any means. I used to use polish on my screen and that made the screen very slippery. I have had no difficulties with writing graffiti characters using the Brando.

As for using them on colored devices, I do not know how they would work because I only have used them on monochrome PDAs.

Seriously, I cannot recommend these protectors enough. I know that everyone has their own personal preferences, but they are a great product. I just purchased a Palm m500 and should be receiving it sometime this week. Even without having it in my possession yet, I already purchased two Brando protectors for it.

I also recommend them, but will clarify some of my ealier comments.

As for the screen protector being "slick". What I simply mean is there is less friction between the stylus and the Brando than there was between the stylus and the WriteRight. Graffiti is much better for me, as it seems more like actual writing.

I have used Monochrome WriteRights for my Deluxe and Color WriteRights for my Prism and then my CLIE. The Brando is superior to both. Not sure if you have ever tried using the Avery Sheet protectors for this, but that is what the Brando is like. It does add a very slight haziness to the screen, but it truthfully is nothing you would notice. It is also impossible to describe.

My suggestion is to buy one and try it for yourself. I can almost bet you will love it.

Brandos have just enough translucency to camoflague minor scratches, but I have never noticed any reduction in the clarity of my screen. 'Milky' sounds a lot worse than it is- milk, in a thin film, is almost transparent.

They do have a texture, but it is more like the normal, very slightly 'rubbery' feel of some plastic films rather than the 'anti-glare' grooves or the 'sanded' textures some use.

Tell you what- give one a try. if you don't like it, sell it here. I bet it would go quick. I'd probably even buy it for some of my co-workers!
