MiniJam Inspired Hard Resets

I was alot happier with my $12 MiniJam before I discovered that:

1) They use hard to find MMC cards (and specifically recommend against Sandisk cards) not the more conveniently available SD cards.

2) They use a proprietary formatting of the card which takes forever the first time you use it, and precludes the ability to use a standard card reader to upload files directly to the card. Who's dumb idea was that anyway?

3) The module forced hard resets on my Visor twice in the first two days I owned it. Soft resets from user mistakes are acceptable for a module. Hard resets are never acceptable. I have the latest firmware installed, has anyone else had this problem?

Its not as though I am going to send the thing back. It works, and I just need to be sure that I back up my VPL with my backup module before heading off with the MiniJam. The player does sound very good. I figure $75 for a 128MB MP3 player is pretty fair these days. Coincidently the A/C adapter from my Kyocera phone fits the power input for the module, which is an unexpected bonus.

Anyone know where I can pick up a so called "Speedloader"? I found a couple on eBay, but they were bundled with a player and/or memory that I do not need.

Keefer, Not to be harsh, but you have been on visorcentral quite awhile now and after all this time and messages about the minijam these issues are suddenly news to you?????

For what its worth, Innogear was the only place you could officially get one for reason #2.. a generic mmc card reader (MMC cards predate SD cards by the way) won't work.. and I know the proprietary speedloader software may have possible issues with Windows 2000/XP, so you may want to be on the lookout for the SpeedLoader 2 model.. I think that one works with later windows OS's.. Innogear used a variant of the Zio MMC card reader for the speedloader.. If you get an older speedloader (model 1) the provided software may not work with Win 2000/XP (and I don't know what the deal is with MAC's but I am sure OS X isn't supported and I don't recall seeing mac software on the CD, just a note saying it was in the works {yeah right, check is in the mail too}) I think someone once posted a trick where you can download the updated Zio drivers then install the Speedload mal-ware and then it will work.. I think there is some weird trick to getting it actually work, but I don't recall at this point what the trick was.. Another thing I noticed with the speedloader was, if the mp3 filename was too long the speedloader tool gacked..

I was never in the market for a $200+ MiniJam, so I never paid attention! Also, in reviewing past posts I never saw anything about the MiniJam causing hard resets...mostly what I saw were discussions of its worthyness for "Module of the Year".

Speaking of the "Module of the Year" when are this year's coming out? Let me be the first to nominate a $4.50 Tiger Woods module!
