No.. you need their messed up loader program as the minijam only reads MJFS (minijam file system) formatted mmc cards.. this much I do know.. Normal USB MMC devices typically format in the FAT file system (same as a floppy disk),, while I read in another thread you could use an off the shelf original ZIO mmc reader AND the speedloader software, I doubt the speedloader software would work with any other brand or newer ZIO device.

Unless you know some uber hacker who is really good at file systems and they can custom write something (an mjfs driver) for you I think you are out of luck..

"shelf original ZIO mmc reader AND the speedloader"

Is this what they packaged with the speedloader program? I tried speedloader with my USB MMC reader and it didn't work, and I so much figured this because of the software issue. I'm not going to spend a small fortune trying this, but if I can get the hardward cheap... I'll give it another go. Any ideas on the make/model of this Zio?

Well, I used my old Speedloader as a normal MMC card reader for awhile when I stopped using the minijam, so I dont see why you couldnt use an old ZIO branded reader as a speedloader with the innogear software.. it should in theory work, I got the ZIO drivers and removed all the innogear software, the drivers I pulled from the ZIO site were for their "gray" "original" model.. I don't recall that they had any model other than "gray".. I also had to dig for it..

I would assume that you can probably get it from ebay or somewhere cheap now a days.. I don't think Zio makes them anymore..

here is the URL I used to get the normal drivers for the minijam

http://www.microtechint.com/windowsxp/xpdrivers.html

It was the last one on the page.. note its gray and not the see thru blue plastic the newer units seem to have..

They describe it as
"ZiO! MultiMediaCard model (Charcoal Color Model Only)"
It looks just like the original minijam I had.. except for the logo of course.

for those who tried to download unsuccessfully - try again. I had uploaded the file using ASCII instead of Binary transfer

Anyways - I've tested it and it works

Unhappy minijam blues

Hey Eric G, FileMover was included with my Minijam. It works great! I can move files onto the extra 2 MB of space. It was on the module itself and not on the disk. At least, I have a Mac, so I don't know if it was included with the Window apps, since they don't show up.
So, my plight is, that I just bought the minijam off of E-bay, and I can't get the minijam browser to work. You are supposed to drag the files on to the MiniBrowser (with the HotSync disabled), but mine just shows "Visor not connected" and it won't even let me drag the files. Also, on this selfsame website it says that Minijam comes with MusicMatch Plus, but mine did not. I downloaded MusicMatch, but it is not Mac supported anymore - I don't even know if there ever was a minijam plug-in.
So, any advice? I have OS 9 , the firmware is 4,01, and the MiniBrowser is 1.1. I haven't really exhausted my avenues, but I think I will probably hit a wall. Thanks.

Hey there~
Don't spend anymore time or money on it. It isn't going to work. Innogear offers no support either. Sorry to tell you that.

Minijam software available here

I dug up my original CD and zipped up a couple of folders. This isn't the whole CD, just the parts relative to the Minijam (no music or other extras). They're at http://f2.pg.briefcase.yahoo.com/[email protected]

Click on "My Documents". Minijam.zip is the original MJloader software (I think - I started with the Speedloader right off the bat). Minijam_restore.zip is an updater that was
provided on the CD. This is version 1.04. MinijamUpdate2.0_PC is the latest updater that I had downloaded from Innogear before they disappeared. Speedloader.zip is for the ZiO-based MMC reader/writer.

Hope this helps!

- Dwayne

I finally got my Minijam to read MP3 from an MMC! I used the ZIO reader (all black, USB, discontinued, found on ebay) & the Speedloader program. While trying to get it to work, I bought an MP3 player and happen to like it more than my Minijam, but oh well.... at least I don't feel $200 in the hole (well... I still am but at least I don't feel sooo bad about it) & got the dang thing to work.

Thank you so much for helping me everyone!
