Der S, I agree with you. I seem to be one of the few that actually like the visor's cover. It protects the screen well and gets out of the way when you need it to.
I actually HATE the Palm III cover because it opens up only 120 degrees (or something like that) and is annoying.
I think a flip-cover would be GREAT if it could flip 360 degrees. In other words, if it could fold back onto itself. This would probably be possible only with 2 hinge-lines (simple linkage). And what would be even COOLER is if the cover was nice and clear so that one could, for example, press the schedule button and instantly see what appointments they have without having to flip or remove the cover. This would mean that the hot-buttons are exposed, though.
My design would flip about 170 degrees, less if a springboard module intruded up over the top of the visor and towards the front. It could be clear, though I think exposing the buttons has it's drawbacks (accidental actuation, etc), and I chose not to. By the way, in my design it will be possible to flip the cover open or closed with the same hand that holds on to the back of the visor - al la the Star Trek handheld, though as usual if you plan to work the buttons or write on the screen, two hands are required anyway.
