I have just purchased a Prism. I already have a Samsung 8500 phone using Sprintpcs. I would like to use the prism for wireless internet using the samsung phone but I'm having a hell of a time finding compatible cables. Does anyone know where I can find what I need?

Those Samsung cables for the 3500/6100/8500 are listed on our web site at http://www.thesupplynet.com They are 8 inches long.

Yes we are expecting the delivery on April 10th. Since the shipment comes by boat and must clear customers it could swing a few days in either direction but that's a pretty close estimate.

The cables have all been tested and work perfectly.

Vissor cellular cable

That's it. The cable, a Visor and a web enables cellphone is all you need to get connected. You will however need email software and web browsing software. A lot of it is free. For example if you go to AOL.com you can download AOL's software for Palm OS and this will enable you to send and receive email using your current AOL account. No trickery. If you go to Eudora.com you will find a web browser for your Visor. Again... no charge.

corsoft.net has a really nice email program for $30.00 per year. It supports faxing and attachments.

As for speed...you will be amazed how fast this is. If you have a Verizon or Sprint phone you can connect and get online in less than 10 seconds.

OK, I have had the cable on order for several weeks, and have all the software you mentioned. Also have web access enabled on my Samsung SCH3500 Sprint PCS cell phone. Should be fully ready!

NOW, the big question:

Is it going to be possible to dial from the HS address book thru the cellphone, and then engage in conversation? Fairly certain this would require additional software, but if it works, would be a great feature!

No, because the phon is in 'data mode' and as far as I can tell, it disables voice mode when online that way... so sorry, it won't probably work.

Are you saying that it can't even send the number to the phone? Even if it didn't dial, if it could transfer the number to the phone, it would be a great feature.

Cellular cable

Yes you can send any number to the phone and the phone will dial it. But it puts the phone into data mode. Once you unplug the cable the phone terminates the call.

I don't think that there is anything like this, but I'll ask anyways. Is/will there be a cable or springboard that will connect the visor to a moblie phone and be connected to a keyboard like the Stowaway at the same time?

Sure, Xircom has two modules that could accomplish this. One is a landline springboard modem that has a port to connect to GSM phones via their special connection kit. The other module is much thinner but is strictly a means of linking a GSM phone to the module (no landline modem included). Since both solutions are springboards, the port on the bottom of the visor will remain open for the stowaway.

Let me rephrase it again,

Can I send the phone number from Visor Deluxe just to store it on the Samsung SCH-3500.

If I can do this, I could then reselect it from the phone and dial it independently from the Visor. I then wouldn't have to worry about 'data mode' and being disconnected when the cable is removed.

PS: I see the cable has slipped to May 1 ... any indications that this schedule will hold?

After disconnecting, I can redial any number the visor dialed first, so yes that will work... I guess it's easier than typing in numbers from the address book to move them over to the phone for storage.

If you are looking for something like that, you should check out fonesync pro, it inclides a samsung data cable and if you have a PC you can sync the pilot and phone pretty well. I have it and I use it. It will also save you the money of a Samsung serial cable since it is included...
