i was woundering if anyone knew what the actual diff between innogears $40 speedloader and others like the zio or just any plain run of the miull MMC writer?
is it just software? used to write in innogears format?

would it be possible for someone to post there software so i can test if thats all that is diff?

that is unless there is something against it that would get me baned form here.

The minijam uses a proprietary formatting procedure for the mmc cards. The zio (I think) and the sandisk (I know) reader/writers don't write that format. So you gotta get the innogear minijam...

are u sure about that? i'm quite sure its just software and the hardware does it all the same.

i wish innogear stayed with fat. anyone know why they chose to go it alone insted of fat like 99% of every other company?

Do you have a zio mmc reader? I have a sandisk usb mmc reader and a speedloader, and when I get a chance (difficult given that I have two small kids vying for my attention), I will try to use the minijam software with the sandisk usb reader. The problem is that I am Mac only, and I still haven't gotten the speedloader to work with VPC. I am waiting (and waiting...) for the mac driver software for the speedloader from Innogear. So I am not sure when I can try it. You certainly could be correct that it could be software only.

Yes 100%

They use a proprietary format.. Maybe if you are a really good hacker you could figureout a way to get the zio to read/write to the mmc, but I know for a fact that the MMC cards are formatted in the "MJFS" file system not FAT.

it's doen in hardware? i thought it was just software. because i have another device ly'n around that uses software and the manufacture claims that it only works with there hardware. well i poped in another reader and it worked perfectly fine. i just hope it's software. because i would hate to get like 5 of these things at $40 each cuz thats what i need.

I don't think the solution would be quite that simple... (I wish it were).

You would have to hack the zio drivers to be able to read/write in the MJFS format.. while not impossible, I could only foresee very advanced hackers doing this or folks with skills sets way beyond my own (we are talking OS level device I/O - scary stuff), they would be of the level that they would not have to ask about it in a forum such as this.. they'd just do it. Also, you'd probably also need the hardware operational specs for the Zio, which I don't think is "public" information. If you did simply pop it in, the minijam formatted MMC would appear unformatted to the Zio. And likewise a "fat" formatted MMC would appear unformatted to the minijam/speedloader. Sorry.. you going to need to buy a speedloader unless Innogear switches to the FAT format (which I doubt, they seemed to have gone out of their way to prevent "piracy" via the MMC cards and the MJFS format is just one of many mechanisms they use).. I was also bummed about having to do this.

Unfortunately, no.

The speedloader only does MINIJAM MJFS MMC cards.. (bummer.. I know.. would be nice if it did MJFS & Fat)

Also, for the record it's only a one way trip, you can only copy mp3's to the MMC card, you can not copy files back from it.
