I got my Green Visor Deluxe about a week ago�.started using it and about an hour later the thing has scratches on it. I try to tap light and write as light as possible and it still scratches. I don�t know what to do. Should I call Handspring? Or should I try turtle wax? Where is the best place to get writerights or get some good styli? Any help would be greatly appreciated.I love my Visor, but I wish I could get rid of those darn scratches.

I whined about scratches here a few days ago. Soon thereafter, Handspring emailed me asking for my address so they could send out a new Visor and a set of deluxe styli. So... I'd say they're definitely taking ownership of this problem. Give em a call and ask for a replacement. Seems like they'll take care of you.

Add me to the list of DEFECTIVE stylus owners!! After few weeks my Visor screen looks like someone was playing ice hockey on it!

I did finally figure out what was going on and ordered the Handspring 5-pack, but the damage has been done.

I ordered my writerights from the Concept Kitchen website and have to say how pleased I am. I also ordered the PDA Survival Kit after that, and my screen is free of scratches, fingerprints and any marks. They also filled my order within 24 hours...can't do better than that!

Just got my WriteRights from Outpost.com today. Wow, what a diff. They are pretty hard to put on. Is it even possible to put one on without getting some airbubbles? Or is it me? They mask the existing scratches well and are much easier to write on. Combined with my new PDAPanache Stylus I'm rockin'!

how long did it take for the stylus to arrive. I am on a tight budget. do you know about any other stylus that is cheaper>

Stylus came in 2 days. I splurged and paid $2 extra for express shipping. This stylus was $15 + 5sh = $20. It's worth it.

As far as I know this is the only quality stylus that fits the Visor besides the ones Handspring sells.

I think what's most frustrating to me is the fact that they're fully aware of this problem, they've been aware of this problem since they started makeing these units. They claim that they've fixed the problem on the new Visors, but I got mine on the 27th of december and it still has the problem.

The writing area is all scratched up and the main screen is nicked everywhere. I know I'm not pressing hard, this IS, after all, my new baby!

This is a product I ordered to use for personal and business organization and in that capacity, I can't exactly stop using it while I wait for an order of screen protectors or a new stylus to arrive. Thus it just gets more nicked up and more scratched up with each use.

Sure the scratches could be avoided by using aftermarket screen protectors or stylis, but I was under the impression that I was buying a complete and functional product. It shouldn't be my responsability to correct Handsprings irresponsibly shoddy manufacturing.

NOTE TO HANDSPRING: Feel free to send me a replacement ([email protected]) and give some serious thought to shipping all your units with a single sheet of screen protection. That way it is your customer's responsability to take care of their screens and it's bound to save you loads of cash on recalls and repairs.

I would like to suggest Handspring sell their premium styli in smaller quantities. I think 5 is too many to order at once and that $8.50 is too high for shipping when they can be sent by first class mail for very little. Unless of course they are trying to encourage third party products like the PDAPanache.

I completely agree with the outrageous shipping charges, but I really don't mind that they are selling the stylii in 5-packs.

I first thought that it seemed greedy to sell only in packs of 5, but it should be noted that they are selling the pack for the same price of 1 PDA Panache stylus. Now if they were selling them for $15.00 each instead of $3.00 ea., I would have a problem with them selling them in packs of 5. As it turns out, having 5 allows me to place extras in strategic locations if I were to lose one (car, briefcase, desk, etc.)

BTW, I know some people may say that the PDA Panache is a far superior stylus but I don't like the way it fits in the silo. I have both the 5-pack and the PDA Panache and I don't use either of them as my primary stylus.

So which do you use as your primary stylus? The plastic one that it came with?

I like a heavier feel like the PalmIII stylus that I've been borrowing rather than the light plastic one.

Personally, I think it was REALLY silly of them to include all five colors in a 5-pack. I have a graphite VD. Why would I want a blue, orange, or green stylus?

One would think they would offer the 5-pack in packs of one color...

I use a Pilot Pentopia because I use one of Handspring's cases and it's easier to pull a stylus from the slot in the case than the one in the silo. Plus it has a pen.

You're right, a green stylus in a Graphite Visor looks funny, but the way I see it, I would have paid $15 for a single Graphite metal stylus (same as a PDA Panache); so the other colors are free to me. It's amazing what lengths I sometimes go to in order to justify my expenses. BTW, the ice stylus doesn't look bad with a Graphite Visor.

Plus, if they sold them in one color, there would undoubtedly be the same color shortages with the stylii that some customers experienced with the colored Visors.

I love the fact that I got five of them at once. I have the OVD and I have mixed and matched the point part of the stylus and the screwdriver part to make a somewhat unique looking stylus (ie. blue head w/ green point). At work I keep an extra stylus out so I don't have to fiddle with the one in the VD while in it's cradle. And I keep one out at home too for just the same reason. Plus, when I get tired of the way the stylus is I'll just swith the parts again!

Hello,
I am a new PDA user and I have read all the negative comments about the stylst. So I ordered a stylst from PDA Panche earlier this week. Well, last night when I arrived home, my Ice VDX was waiting for me. I was very hesitant to use it without the new stylst but excitement overcame me. I tried the stylst and it works great. I've been using it all day. Like a kid in a candy factory and not one scratch.
I'm still going to switch it out when my new one comes. I just wanted to let you know that everything on my Visor appears fine (at this point).

Sheesh...I guess I'm in the club now too. I've had my VDX for about 2 weeks now and I've been using the stock stylus-gently. I noticed a few really faint scratches after a couple of days..no big deal. I was willing to let that slide as it didn't hinder my use of the Visor. But today was the kicker..as I was writing..the darn stylus actually skipped its way across the screen (even made a "zug zug zug" sound as it dug into the screen) Now I have this lovely scratch with visble nicks at the end of each skip in the scratch. Ouch. I don't think Turtle wax is gonna do much for me on this one.

I got my 1st hands on with a Visor, last week. The stylus from my PalmPilot Pro seemed to fit the Visor's slot just fine. They are available in 3 packs from Staples.
