Question

I heard there is a way to prevent scratches on a PDA screen. But I heard too that they dim the screen, are there any that don't dim the screen, the protector I would be getting would be for a visor platinum.

Screen Scratches

By all means, get the Screen Protectors.

Since almost all the action happens on the lower Graphiti area, cut the Screen Protector to 2 centimeters in height and just cover the writing area.

You'll get the protection you want while still having a clear screen.

You might try one of the input enhancers. They cover the grafiti area and provide extra functionality as well.

I use SilkyBoard - it's good. It provides a keyboard like interface. (www.silkyboard.com)

There are others. I have tried Fitaly Stamp. Couldn't get used to the changed keyboard layout.

For your basic cover-the-input-area product, I used Scotch brand Magic Tape #811 until I switched to a full screen protector.

I'd definately get a screen protector, stay away from WriteRight, I got one from a friend of mine, the rough texture is irritating with the heavier stylus, I'm afraid if I use it too much I'll numb my fingers. But I'd definately recommend anything that is smooth like the actual Visor screen, SilkyBoard looks good, haven't tried it myself.

Screen Protectors and FitalyStamp

I have not purchased WriteRights, but have bought clear vinyl to make my own Screen Protectors. I found instructions on GeoCities website. If you go to FAQ on Visorcentral and go to II.H.7, you will have some answers to the screen protector issue. I have used the 8 mm vinyl for about a year, and am still on my first piece. It is very clear, doesn't require any adhesive, and gives a cushy feel to the screen. And, I have enough spare vinyl from my initial $1.25 purchase to last for at least 5 years. (BTW, here is the link for those too lazy to go to the FAQ to find it.)

The link even provides a template for the screen protectors.

In addition, I use FitalyStamp as a keyboard entry device,

and really like it. It is much faster than graffiti, and after a little practice, I could regularly hit 30 - 35 wpm. During a contest they ran, I was up to 50 wpm, and there were a few that surpassed 70 with a prearranged paragraph. To me that is amazing. I use it to take notes during meetings, with SmartDoc, and then just transfer them to Word on my PC during HotSync.

Easily done. Hope that helps.

I suggest the WriteRight for the Palm IIIc. They have a clear, smooth surface instead of the "glare reduction" textured ones. I use it on my Prism, and my Palm VII without any problems.
