Question

Hi!

First of all, I think this discussion group is really great, and you guys from the staff are doing a great job. The postings here saved me from calling TechSupport at least three times, and as someone wrote somewhere else in a thread, Handspring should make thise site their tech support site! ;-)

Anyway, I think it would be a good idea to create a newbie forum where all the general questions like "what is a springboard" or "how many megs do I need" are answered. I think these are legitimate questions, but as the same questions are asked again and again, and most people seem not to search the archives for the answers first, a separate newbie section would be a good idea. Especially the questions and answers would not get lost so easily like in the other forums...

I hope you guys can understand what I am trying to say (sometimes I have difficulties to express myself clearly ;-) )!
If not, just send me an email!

BTW, I would like to know what the other members think about this...

I think that it would be a good idea if people used it as intended. The problem is that people probably won't. If you look at the davinciworld forums, they have a forum for "Novice Users" and one for "Power Users".
If you look at the posts however, you see that the same types of questions and comments are posted to both.
For example, a guy who's had his PDA for a couple of days can't figure out how to set the correct time and asks for help in the Power User forum; turns out he was in the wrong screen. Most of the posts in that forum are of that nature.

Then there are the people who are never sure which forum to post in, so they post the same message to both.

I think that it's a good idea, but I'm skeptical that it would work because people just tend to post where they think they'll get the best response.

I think that this is a good idea, but once we improve the FAQ some more and start writing some how-to articles, this will go down. If nothing else, you'll be able to point them to the link instead of typing in the answer
