Don't buy from Handspring.com it's not good...

When you want a return...they send you a refurbished handheld that is not cosmetically right...has scratches on it...and also has the same problem that your current model has...I had to return two handhelds already because of the problem...the model that they sent me yesterday had scratches on the inside of the springboard slot and was partially charged...the screen was new however...also the one that they sent me today had messed up groups of pixels on the screen and the screws in order to open up the handheld were scratched...like they were put through a machine...so I call handspring.com again to get yet another replacement...and they tell me that they can't do it...what gives they say that it has to be reviewed by a supervisor...what is up with that? I don't get it...why would they do that to me anyway? Has anyone else had a problem with that...

The service I have recieved from Handspring is great, especially how quick they got a replacement to me

From as far as I can tell, it seems brand new, and is not labeled as a refurb. Only problem is the screen seems a little squishy, instead of perfectly straighjt, if you now what I mean...it's not a big deal, and in only one small area of the screen...It doesn't bother me...

Angry Why be so critical? I was just stating my opinion.

I can't win today, and today is my birthday. I just want some satisfaction. Even though this sight is great for replies. The people on it are just so anxious to make fun. What I did was I swapped out the back of the new prism with the back of the refurbished prism. I am happy now. I still have a replacement pending at handspring but I won't take it I'll just keep the one that I have.

Happy Birthday!

I don't think that people meant to be critical. It was just really hard to read your post when it is all one paragraph without any punctuation.

I would have to agree with you that the second unit would be unacceptable. If I were you, I to would have complained and would have likewise been fairly pissed off with the reponse that they would not send another.

Happy Birthday!

I think the comments about punctuation were in the category of teasing rather than being mean-spirited. I have seen what these guys will do to you if they don't like to and are trying to be mean!

Anytime you send stuff in for repair or swap, you are sort of at the mercy of the shipping department. They try to sort out the good units from the bad, but some still get through.

I think most of us have a similar story. When Handspring is good, it is very, very good. When it is bad, it is horrid!

There are some tricks to getting better service. You can find books on that sort of thing at most libraries!

Talking Thanks

The last post is right. I was able to swap out a visor edge with no problem. The backlight did not work. I did receive a new edge. I know that this model was new it had no cosmetic differences on it. Now I have a supervisor over at handspring trying to delegate whether I should receive a third replacement. Why are they giving me so much trouble? Don't they know that there are message boards like this around?

I had my Prism replaced, it actually turned out to be a bad cradle. The replacement that I received, was most likely a refurb. However, I placed it side by side, with my friends brand new one and could not tell the slightest difference. You would be suprised at the amount of tech companies that will replace a defective product with a reconditioned one.

I bought a re-furbished Prism a few months ago has to send it back due to a bent pin in the Springboard slot. Although I have no way of knowing I am pretty sure the one I received in return was brand new or close to it...it actually looked better than the one I received originally since that one had a a crack across the back of the case.

They were nice when I called and quick to send the replacement. I received it the next day after I called.
