Unhappy

I was wondering if anyone would have advice for me. I recently purchased a Handspring Visor Delux. My wife had one before I did. We have tried to beam one another and nothing works. My machine will indicate that it is searching for another handheld device and her machine will state that it is detecting a new beam. However my machine fails to recognize her machine and the beam does not go through. When we go the other way (my wife attempts to send me a message), nothing happens. My machine does not recognize her beam.

I have contacted customer support and they have not yet been able to correct this problem. Does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks in advance, Chris

Make sure that Beam Receive is set to ON. Place both units on a table, with the IR ports facing each other. Try from about 12" and move the towards each other until you get them to communicate. If that doesn't work, try separating them out to about 2 feet (and to no more than 3 feet). If they still don't work, you may have one or more defective units. Also, make sure that you've disabled any Hack, as I believe that there is at least one Hack that causes probelms (maybe it is one of the keyboard drivers).

Over-clocking utilities can cause beaming problems as well.

My wife's Visor had the same problem - no hacks running, and beam receive was on for all the handhelds I tested it with. It got progressively worse until I could only get it to beam or receive small apps, and even then by getting it less than 1 inch from the other unit. After that it wouldn't work at all (although both units recognized that it was trying to do something.)
Handspring replaced the unit overnight without any kind of hassle at all (still under waranty.)
Assuming everything mentioned in the previous posts is ruled out, I'd ask HS to replace it.
Good luck!
