Can cradle problems cause usb hotsync to fail?

Hmm..

2 days ago.. my Visor Edge now refuses to sync with Windows 2000 or XP and I do already have PlmDesktop 4.01H. It was working before and no settings have been changed.

I do know that the cradle pins now don't seem to connect properly to my Edge. Eg. the power light and hot sync button don't work unless put in a certain way. Anyways.. Windows now says that USB Device is not recognized and may be malfunctioning. Could a faulty cradle/visor connection be the cause os is it more likely Windows problem?

I don't have another computer to test it out on yet, but before I go to the trouble of annoying somebody to install Palm Desktop and try sync my Visor if somebody has had this problem before, it would be good to know, so that I can just drop by the service center here in Malaysia to fix it.

Check to see if your USB ports have any sleep settings enabled. Also, you may want to gently clean the contacts of the cradle and Edge.

Managed to track it down.. it's either my cradle or my Edge connectors. But I have to stick a piece of folded paper behind the left side of the Edge while it's in the cradle, before it could sync.

Guess.. I'll have to get one or the other fixed/replaced. Thanks for the tip, because I tried to troubleshoot from the connection first and found out about it rather quickly. It's interesting to note that under WinXP you do not really need the Visor device installed in order for it to sync like it says at the HandSpring site.
