Just curious...

How does everyone carry their Modules?

I'm looking for better ways to carry multiple modules....

Presently, I have a prism in a Rhodania case (that rules) and I bought a cell phone case( I believe one of the smallest cases) for my Eye module. I clip them both to my belt and off I go. I'm thinking about gettin a MiniJam and am very close to having the infamous "Bat Belt"


Is that what everyone else does?

Well... I have the following: VisorPhone, Minstrel S, Eyemodule, Backup Module, Springport 56 Modem and Stowaway... everything I need to communicate anywhere to anything. Will probably get the emergency charger soon. I've given up on eating and Handspring, et al has a separate entry in their P&L statement just for me.

I have two options. I carry everything in a large JanSport fanny pack or I wear an Eddie Bauer Travel Vest (about 8-10 pockets).

I have seen some Case Logic cases for digital cameras that look promising... but, have not had time to look into it any further. Hopefully soon. It would be nice to have a case that had removable/customizable foam sections (or something like that) that would provide the necessary cushion/protection for the modules.

I just found some plastic storage cases for Game Boy modules. They fit perfectly. Each springboard has it's own plastic case. The Visor (in it's purple leather case) along with a hot-sync cable, batteries, folding keyboard and modules all fit in a fabric purple pencil case I found at Walgreens for $2.99.

Game Boy 6 Game Pak Cases, assorted colors $4.95. Found them at a local electronics store. I feel safe carrying my backup module and 8 mb ram now. I wasn't comfortable with them naked and alone.

I'd suggest a RhinoPak 2000 or 3000, depending on the number of accessories/modules you carry. Lots of pockets and flexibility. I use a RhinoPak 2000 to carry my eyemodule, backup module, SpringPort modem, Stowaway, and VDx, also with some space for drivers license, credit cards, receipts, cash, etc.

i second the r2k and r3k...

i use the 2k daily, with ovdx, stowaway, xtra batteries, headset for my cell, and backup mod (flash mod is always in the visor, which itself lives in a vaja flip-top.

on longer trips, i pack it all in the r3k, plus hs modem and cord... i just think it packs better in the r3k, and i'm sort of rough on my luggage, so i like the ruggedness of both cases...

i love them both, i guess.

i have to second (third?) the Rhinoskin 2000. I use my rhinoskin TI slider for most of the time with my CF adaptor springboard in, but when using my Omnisky, the TI case, my backup module, compact flash module, PCMCIA CF reader, CF cards and other visor stuff fits in real nice.

i like the gameboy game case suggestion though...was a bit nervous about my backup module just flopping around.

My current set of Visor-related goodies is:

� Visor Prism
� Stowaway Keyboard
� Handspring 33.6 modem
� compact little phone cord gizmo (about 1.5" x 2.5" x 3/8") that lets you spool about 6' of phone cord into it
� Eyemodule

I currently keep everything in a $4.99 two-pocket ammo pouch with carrying strap that I picked up at an army/navy surplus store; Stowaway, Prism, and phone cord fit nicely in the larger pocket, springboards in the smaller one... not super-organized, but compact and easy to access. I figure I've got room for one or two more standard-size modules before I buy a bigger ammo pouch

It doesn't offer a lot in the way of protection, but I don't usually take my whole setup with me most places anyway.

Here's what I have:

-BVDx (will get a Prism soon)
-Stowaway Keyboard
-Minstrel S
-Backup Module

Here's what I use to carry:

-Targus PDA/Stowaway case for the Visor and keyboard
-Original "free" leather slipcase for Backup Module and Minstrel S
-Both setups rest inside the smaller pockets of my bookbag

Now, it's not the best solution, but it works for now. I'm hoping that some company will come out with a Minstrel/Prism case soon, that way I only have to worry about the keyboard and backup module.

While I was in Circuit City, I saw some 'portable game system' cases that Case Logic makes. Relatively small and slim, they were made for the Gameboy and NeoGeo Pocket Color (they also offer a larger sized version for the PS1). They look like they could work well with the Visor (in a form-fitting case of its own, perhaps), Keyboard, and a couple of modules for general traveling. In fact, if you have a beltable case for the Visor, the Case Logic case would be great for modules/accessories alone.

Going on someone's suggestion on this board I purchased the smaller Case Logic carrying case (blue neoprene) and carry my Stowaway in it. Usually its in my backpack or travel bag, but if I'm feeling extra geeky I can use the strap on the back to loop my belt through.

Do it with Velcro!

I generally tote a Prism with a Minstrel S installed, a Stowaway keyboard, a TCL Emergency Prism charger, an extended antenna for the Minstrel and a Rave MP 2200. This all fits securely in a converted three-ring leather notebook with a zipper that is lined inside with Velcro. This is very easy to carry, looks extremely cool and my cost for this organizer is less than $50.00.

This is my third conversion and it takes about thirty minutes. You buy a nice 2" x 8" x 10.5" 3 ring leather notebook and make sure you get the kind that the three rings are on a separate plastic sheet that can be easily slipped out of the leather cover. Then you lay down 10 feet of black velcro on the right cover, making a surface that will let you mount all of your goodies where you need to place them. I recommend putting the hard hooks on the notebook and then use short strips of the fuzzy velcro on the back sides of your PDA, cell phone and other accessories. It makes an extremely neat system which will blow your coworkers away when you unzip your "organizer" and pull out a complete mobile office.

An unexpected benefit of the velcro mounting system is that I can mount this gear on the dash of my car as needed, by putting an inconspicuous strip of the hook type velcro in the appropriate places.

I have a Visor Deluxe with the following Springboards:
Thincom Modem
Tiger Woods Golf
Pocket Express Games
Soundsgood Audio
Backup Module

I have the Springboards in Gameboy plastic game cases, and the Soundsgood and earphones in a plastic cassette tape case (fliptop thing). I have an InFocus camera bag with a pouch in front that serves well for the Visor, and a larger pouch underneath which holds all my Springboards, modem cable, and extra batteries and stylus. The case fits nicely in my briefcase.

I got the module cases and camera bag at Walmart. By the way, Walmart now carries Handspring stuff.

I've been using a courier-style briefcase made by
Jansport (I believe). Open the flap, and there's a
space with various small pockets perfect for modules,
and a section that can house several pens/pencils that
will also hold two AAA batteries really well. I usually
carry my visor in the open compartment under the flap,
and a Stowaway will also fit there as well. There's
also a zippered main compartment for carrying papers,
books, etc, a zippered pouch on the flap and on the
back, a place to hang keys, and a shoulder strap. So
far, this has worked well for me.

The vest idea is interesting as well. A photographer's
vest should work well, but would be expensive. Anyone
considered a fishing vest (about $30 at Kmart)?
