For you web administrators...is it a symptom if someone is loading massive amounts of data (our email) confirmations is this a possible reason for the errors occuring at the Web site?

One area that I'm questioning. Perhaps I'll have confirmation for breakfast?

Not very likely. From what I understand our confirmations will be sent from the warehouse. Not HandSpring HQ. That's why we don't exist in their database when we call to check on our orders.

Unless a company is technically administered by newbies, e-mail is typically handled by another server (read that to mean separate machine). As foo noted, they won't even be coming from whomever is behind the handling of the site.

I think you're attempting to read too much into the problems Handspring is having with their site. It's likely nothing more (or less) than an obvious attempt to run both the company site and the online store off of one machine, and the server isn't liking it one bit.

Still, it doesn't mean you won't get that confirmation while you are chomping on pancakes. Only that a huge batch of confirmation messages are most certainly not the cause of the Web site's difficulties.

I called to add a serial cradel to my order and the CSR was very helpful, he was able to pull up my records very easily and had all my information there, doen to the correct spelling of my email address.

But I think I founf the problem with the orders. The CSR said that orders were grouped in databases according to time of order. So those who ordered a month ago are separate from those who ordered yesterday. (presumably to make sure the earlier orders go out first) the CSR said that not all the people taking orders have access to all these databases, so some can pull up your info and some cannot. A wierd system, but it might explain why the occurance of not having your info is scattered.

the CSR also asked me when I ordered, because adding a serial cradle would not be possible if I ordered a while back because those orders were on their way to the warehouse for shipment. So the shipment is PRESUMABLY coming soon....something we've been hearing. I have no doubt that I will recieve my Visor by the end of the month, and so far the customer service has been great for me...

And the problems with the internet site could be due to the uploading of files into the order status area, which we can all check with our email address and the last 4 digits of our credit card. So those status info may be available while you eat our wheaties tomorrow.
