I am new to the Palm OS and have scanned through a number of software sites, however, it is very hard to pick apps...

I am looking for the best on-line graphical web browser, the best e-mail program to send and receive e-mail from the visor, and a good fax program to create and send faxes from the visor

Any other recommendations for (must have) applications is apreciated.

I ordered the visor deluxe with the modem, and I want to be able to take full advantage of the features...

Any advice from experienced users...

Thanks

Software is a very personal thing hence the reason there are so many different types. Check out http://www.palmgear.com if you haven't already for all of your Palm/Visor based software. They are all there usually with little reviews from users. Plus most of them are available for download and commercial stuff is often available on a trial basis. Try before you buy.

I hate recommending to another user unless I know that they will be trained by me on the use of the software.

Thumbs up

I have to agree with Richard. It really depends on what you want to do and what's important to you. The graphical browser and the fax software are subjective to your needs. (And there aren't a ton of these apps available).

Though HandWeb and ProxiWeb stand out as graphical browsers. And HandFax and MobileWinFax stand out for faxing.

As for e-mail, well, again this depends on what kind of service you use and if you want to sync up to your ISP remotely or if you want to access your office's network. I'm not going to attempt to recommend an e-mail program, though the device does come with it's own e-mail app.

If you can tell us your needs or MUST HAVEs then we can probably help you out a little more.

The Proxiweb recommendation is a good one. They use a proxy server to deliver the pages, so even the old 14.4 Palm modem on my Palm Pro could serv up web pages. Don't forget Multimail Pro for handling email. It's one of the best, and there is a lite version for free.

To be honest, I won't be needing to sync with my PC regularly... Although I do own one and will use it to download software and install programs...

I do use Netscape comunicator for my e-mail though... And it might be nice to sync with that?

I am more concerned with having apps that will allow the Visor to send and receive e-mail and communicate well on it's own.

I purchased a back-up module and will utilize that for the most part...

Also...

Is there a program that will let you transfer the address book from maximizer to the Visor?

Thanks for the feed-back so far...
