8MB Memory Module Limitation

After several calls to Handspring Technical Support they have finally concluded that there is a limitation on how much data can be transferred to the module from the Visor. I initially tried to move a database that was greater than 4MB and the amount transferred was under 4MB making the database unusable. Handspring states that this is a limitation of PalmOS. The issue has been escalated to Handspring engineers with highest priority.

Is this a file-size limitation or a module limitation?
I mean, do I have an 8MB module of which I can only ever use 4 MB, or can I just not move a 4MB file?

You must be talking about a limitation on unique file size, no? 'Cause you can get more than 4MB on the 8MB module, no? What about moving more than one file at once, where the sum of the file sizes is greater than this 4MB limit? Also, does this restriction they mentioned apply to copying files, or just moving files?

WordNet

"Wordnet Full" is a nice, 150,000 word, five-megabyte dictionary file which is sitting quite comfortably on one of my eight meg Springboard modules. I have the feeling there's more to this story.

Is WordNet Full (which I'm unable to find at any of the various Palm software sites) an app or a database?
if an app, I think we just got the answer. (kabinud's prob is with a DB.)
if a DB, further research required!

The Limitation

The limitation is on a unique database file. That is, if you have a database that is greater than 4MB you may experience the same problem of being unable to transfer the database from the unit to the memory module.

Wordnet Full is a 5 meg DATABASE file that, as others have mentioned, can be transferred to the 8 meg springboard module. It's been on mine for over a year.

I think we're missing something here; certainly the bald statement that "Four meg databases cannot be copied to an eight meg module" is simply false. What sort of hardware are you using?

I copied Noah's Wordnet Full using FileMover 1.1 on a Visor Deluxe.

Hardware in use:
Visor Deluxe
8MB Memory Module

It is good to know that the Noah dictionary was moved successfully to the module. But as stated earlier Handspring have tried to perform similar operation with other databases greater than 4MB and experienced same. I spoke with Handspring and they indicated to keep an eye out for update/patch on their site.

What I would like to know is if there are other (ie other than Noah) known databases greater than 4MB that have been transferred successfully to the memory module?? I am trying to isolate my problem. The fact that Noah was transferred with no problem indicates some other problem.
