Question

I am interested in using one of the palm devices, but have used a Franklin planner for quite a few years and it has been a life saver. I would like to know how people that used a paper planner have found the transition to a palm device. I know it would sure be a lot lighter! Thanks

Franklin-Covey actually sells Palm organizers and has special software for them. Go to any of their stores and you will see a Palm section.

Smile

Thanks for the info. I checked them out at the store today. I was impressed with the software, but now I wonder how the Visor compares. I am still trying to decide between the Visor Deluxe or the Palm IIIx.

Thanks

Sari

Sari,

When the main site comes back up you'll probably be able to see a "Vote" booth that was asking the question, Do you like you Visor better than your Palm. The last glimpse I got of the on going results were 89% preferred their Visor over the Palm unit. Now obviously not a scientific poll but it does limit the members to one vote each.

Here are several things to consider:

Visor has the Springboard technology which will allow for the expansion (almost infinite). Palm does not.

Visor and Palm are pretty much equal after that with the exception of no flash memory available for OS upgrades. That means that any OS upgrades will have to take up RAM instead of the flash memory. However, the most probable next huge leap in Palm OS software will be for color and that obviously won't concern a B/W user.

I think that the voting tells it all....the only problem is you'll have to wait for 6 weeks or so for a Visor whereby you could have a Palm unit tomorrow.

Personally, if you don't have some electronic PDA now...I'd suggest you order the Visor and wait. Take the 6 weeks or so to research what software you might want to add to make you more productive.

Sari,

See my post (and the others) at http://discussion.visorcentral.com/...ML/000936.html. If your Franklin has been a life saver, wait 'til you get a palm organizer! By the way, I am really glad I have 8MB.

I order a visor by phone on Nov 24th. This will be my first. I started looking at other options and would like to know if anyone has considered the TRG pro? If not, why?

I'm going to be getting a TRG pro soon. I'll tell you what I think of it, and maybe even post a review on my site, purevisor.com. I like that it uses industry standard flash cards rather than the springboards. The springboards are great, but they can't be interchanced with any other product (ie, laptops, CE devices, digital cameras).

The TRG Pro doesn't look bad, but there seems to be little support for it. If there's gonna be an alternate standard to the Palm Pilot, it right now looks as though it's going to be the Visor.
