How much do the parts for the Visor Really cost? Let's comapre the Solo, the Plat, and th Prism (These are my quesses.. PLESASE POST MORE ACCURATE INFO!)

Solo:
LCD=$60
Memory=$20
CPU=$15
Motherboard=$4
Casing=$1
Total=$100

Plat.
LCD=$60
Memory=$40
CPU=$30
Motherboard=$4
Casing=$6
Total=$140

Prsim.
LCD=$80
Memory=$40
CPU=$30
Motherboard=$8
Casing=$6
Total=$164

Where does Hand make the most money? THe Prism.. Why do they overprice so much? Because they can.

Now prices are coimng down. .so..

Does anybody have more accurate info? These are just guesses.

Also don't forget R&D! Handspring has to be able to compete with the big dogs (Palm, Compaq, Sony, etc.). I wish that I could get a Prism for $300, but I don't expect that to happen anytime soon.

If they sell 50,000 units at $300 each instead of $449, they would be throwing almost $7.5 million away (unless my math is way screwed up, a distinct possibility)! That's a whole lotta pencils and graph paper!

I would love to know what the actual cost to produce each of the Visor models is. If we knew what the wholesale price of a unit was we could probably make a decent guess.

I guess I'll have to raise the price of the stuff I make to generate more income so I can buy a Prism. (causing a horrible cascading effect as people are forced to charge more for what they do so they can buy my stuff, etc.)
