June's issue finds the boys at what used to be PC Computing doing torture tests (and uninformed reviews) of several laptops, PDAs and phones. Must be slow at the office. Anyway, the Visor passed all stress tests while the Palm Vx died on the 'Coke test'.

However, the Palm gets full stars while the Visor gets 4/5! Ghaa. You'd think the stress test would speak for itself, but no...here comes the 'review'. The mag lists the Palm as 16-shade greyscale, while the Visor is monochrome only with a smaller screen (2.1" vs. 3.75" - ?!?!).

"The Handspring Visor Deluxe does everthing Palm's handhelds do - for $150 less. But its size and styling are clunkier."

Sorry, my misunderstanding - I thought the article was about dropping and spilling Coke on these devices; I must have skipped over the 'clunk' test.

I really hate it when people do stuff like that!!! I tell my friends about them and then they are just like... its a palm? I am like no!! its a visor, then they ask the diff. I tell them about the os mod, the springboard and the slightly diff thickness and it seems all they hear is the part about it being a tad bigger, god some people just don't listen!

Is there really a difference between the number of levels of gray on the Visor and that of the Palm? I thought they were the same. Or does the Palm V have a better screen?

I did my own stress test:
The "1.5-flip-from-shirt-pocket-when-picking-up-pen" test. It landed face down (no cover, doh). The WriteRight held all the broken shards of glass together. I could still use the buttons below to check some info, but no input. Annoying part (beside not having a working unit): I had to reset my Visor when my alarms for appointments went off.

Handspring has great turn-around times for repairs; I received my new unit in 8 days to Canada. They lady I talked to at the call center had the same thing happen to hers.
