Question

Hey there,

Well...I succumbed after months of watching my boyfriend playing with his palm and went up to eBay & bid on a prism. It just got here today and the display is a whitegrey with no discernable icons, menus, or anything...just whitegrey. I've exhausted my search online, looked in the user's guide, charged the sucker, soft reset, hard reset, brightness adjustment (no change), etc. The prism itself seems to be making the appropriate noises when I hotsynch or touch the stylus to the icons, but there's nothing displayed on the screen. Has anyone else run into this? If so, I will be forever indebted if you could help me out. I've been waiting at the mailbox every day and now that it's here and I've spent 5 hours trying to troubleshoot this, I'm at my wits end!

Thanks in advance!

Does the display change at all when you turn the unit on or off? Is it black when off and "whitegrey" when on?

Sure sounds like there is something wrong with that unit. AFAIK, there is no brightness or contrast setting low enough to make the display appear to have no information on it.

Hmm. Is the program "Toggle" installed?

That happened to me with the first Prism I bought. It occurred less than 24 hours after I bought it. The screen has shorted out.
Get your money back or see if you can get a replacement from Handspring.

By the way, I'm extremely happy with my Prism (the replacement) I've had it for 5 months and it is great. In fact I gave one of my kids one for his birthday and my wife has been hinting that she'd like one for her birthday.
