Question

I'm a college student looking for a low cost way to type my notes. I'm considering buying a Visor Deluxe and buying a Keyboard to go with it. Do any of you who currently own Visors think that the Visor would handle that type of use or should I try some other route. Thanks,
Kyle

Thumbs up

I think a Visor would be perfect for typing notes if you had Think Outside's Stowaway keyboard.

I agree. The stowaway is going to be one of the great accessories for the Visor. I can't wait to review it.

BTW, sorry about the Alamobowl (I'm from Houston also). Ouch!

Cool

I will have to agree also. One of the main reasons I purchased my visor was for note taking in class. That coupled with the stowaway keyboard should make a perfect combination (even writing papers and essays on it doesn't seem like a far fetched idea if the keyboard is as good as I have heard it is..).

Question

Where do you get the keyboard?

How much does it cost?

Is it better then the go type keyboard?

Neither the Stowaway nor the GoType are available yet. The Stowaway seems like the one to get, unless you do a lot typing on your lap - tends to fold up unexpectedly if not on a flat surface according to reviews. If Innogear decides to make a Pro version of the GoType for the Visor, one benefit will the ability to sync through the keyboard too. Irrelevant for most though I'm sure.

The third option is a connector to allow attachment of a standard keyboard - avail. only for the Palm so far. However, that seems like a lame idea for most. Nobody is gonna carry a PC keyboard with them. And if a person is near a computer with one, then that person is just gonna type on the computer most of the time - carry a floppy disc.

I have the Apple Newton keyboard accessory. As I remember when the Palm Pilot first came out there was a company that was selling a connector so you could use the Newton keyboard with the Palm Pilot. Is that company still in business? If they are, do you suppose they would have or be developing a connector for the Handspring Visor? I sure hope so.

Thanks y'all for your help. I think I'm probably going to get one. The wait is a little disappointing but I don't guess its that big of a deal. Think Outside says their keyboard won't be ready until Feb. anyhow.

This is exactly what i have been doing with a GoType and Palm III for the past 6 months - works great. THe keyboad is a tad small, but I am almost as fast as I am on my laptop or home computer.

I sold my stuff, ordered a handspring, waiting on it, and waiting on the new fold-up full size keyboard myself.
