Intermittent screen flicker

I just bought a (reconditioned) Prism from Fry's. I am noticing that once or twice a minute, the screen flickers. It's almost Imperceptible, and only lasts for a split second, but my mono Visor never did this. Is this somthing all Prism's do? or do I have a problem here?

backlight-blink

I think bonjo is talking about the the screen flicker that is intermitant, not the constant flicker that the contrast utility can fix. I would call it more of a 'backlight-blink' rather than a screen flicker which folks would confuse with the contrast utility fix problem.

This backlight-blink happens once or twice every so many seconds and is more like a backlight black-out that happens very quickly.

I don't think there is much that can be done as I also bought a refurbished VP and had two units with this problem.

I also purchased a reconditioned Prism just last week and am experiencing a similar pattern. It doesn't happen all the time, but is noticeable.

(Has anyone noticed "noise" when they plug in a module to a reconditioned prism? It sounds almost like a modem as if it is data passing back and forth. The sound goes away when I remove the module - I've tried 3 different modules with the same result.)

Yeah, backlight "blink" is probably a more discriptive term. Sounds like mine isn't the only one. . . I wonder if it's just the reconditioned ones or do they all do this?

I've had two Prisms and they both do it...I hardly notice it anymore!

My new prism does the same thing, except sometimes it turns off. Other times it will be sitting on the desk, turned off, and I will see it flash on for a split second (no alarms, just flashes) and then go off. I have stayoff hack on it so I'm curious if it would come on and stay one for 2 minutes if I disabled the hack. Has anyone else seen the screen flash on and then go off like that?
