Just wanted other Visor users to know - I have a RhinoSkin ShockSuit Sportcase. Great design, and it has potential to be one of the better cases on the market, but be aware, it will fall appart within a few months. I use mine to transport my visor in my briefcase (hardly "extreme use") and it has started to fall apart. From the looks of it, there is a defect in part of the construction. I worked with rhinoskin to receive a replacement, even offering to pay shipping both ways, and was told to basically "pound sand".

With so many cases on the market today, look to other vendors to get your visorgear from. Service after the sale is very important, and RhinoSkin has chosen to abandon their customers. Normally, I am an understanding and easy-going kind of guy. But this is the first time I have ever been offended by the services I have received.

Too bad...their cases are well designed - hopefully someday their customer service will develop.

Yeah, I e-mailed Rhinoskin with some suggestions for improving the case I bought, and they basically told me I could buy the stuff I needed to make the changes ! I wasn't expecting them to shower me with accolades or anything, but I certainly didn't get a response that made me feel I was a valuable customer. So I'll be looking elsewhere for my next case...

I have had a ShockSuit for about 8 months. The only problem I had with it was the velcro started to come off the cover, which I glued back on using some CA super glue. I think it does a good job protecting my Visor, and was well worth the money. I'm looking for another case that will hold my spring mod's and my Visor in the ShockSuit.

I've had three different products from RhinoSkin, and honestly the only one I don't use any more is the ShockSuit.

I agree the Shocksuit is a bit of an oddity for them -- instead of stitched canvas, it's glued foam. It looks a lot cheaper and nastier than the other cases I have from them. If it fell apart -- generally after a solid whack that left my PDA uninjured -- I just used wood glue to put it back together. Still, I can understand why someone might be disappointed with it.

I never had any problem with RhinoSkin's customer service; they sent my RS 4000 by overnight for free after their glitch caused it to be delayed. Mistakes happen, and they recovered nicely.

The Rhinopak 4000

I had a couple questions about the Rhinopak 4K

I'm looking for a more general purpose carrying case for my visor, springboards, and maybe some paperwork for my job.

How big is the RP4K? Will it hold enough to use it like I plan?

Well...

I realize it's probably overkill for just carrying a visor and a couple springboards, but I travel a lot in my job and i would like a case that would fit my Visor, springboards, zip disks, cdrom's, and papers that I carry with me.

Could you give me the outside dimensions of the case? I can't find them on Rhino's website, only the maximum size of the device you can carry in it.

I used a rhinoskin shocksuit for a few months and found it protected my visor extremly well. There are spots were the fabric wore away from constant rubbing from my jacket. The shocksuit sorta looked ratty pretty quick.
I purchased a rhodina case and have found that this case looks better, fits better and provides decent protection and will last longer then my shocksuit.
If its protection you are concerned about I would go with the shocksuit, if not there are better choices.

I was happy with the design of the shocksuit at first, too. It is a nice design, but like I said when I started this thread, it fell apart way too quickly.

I am planning on checking out the other cases on the market, too. Rhinoskin products have good intentions, but now they need to take the actual cases and "update" them to meet the true needs of the users.

I'm not rough-housing my shocksuit. I've dropped it. It bounces. It protects. It's a special case. Here are some observations:
Rhinoskin shipped the case with no documentation, no 'thank you' (other than the e-mail confirmation).. no post-sale info or marekting materials. That's something that they may want to keep in mind. I'd also thought for certain that forward thinking companies include their URL on their products or packaging. I placed my order. If I change my e-mail address they can't track me. What if this was a gift It would make more sense to me that they at least direct me to their website to subscribe to their newsletter for news and release information.

I laughed when I first saw the stylus holder outside of the case, but it actually is quite secure if you ensure the stylus is locked at both the top and bottom. I keep my metal stylus inside of my visor while it's in the case, and I keep a spare plastic stylus in the Rhinoskin's holder just in case.

Hmm.. the velcro enclosure on the lid came apart on day one. Too bad. I thought along the same lines as alarm18 (previous post)
and went out for the superglue. 'weldbond' seems to do the trick for this material. Sending it back would be too much of a hassle and cost. Having read previous posts I don't imagine they send way bills like Handspring would. But I haven't asked either.

I'm now using the Visor while it's in the case. (The reason why I skipped on the PDA pouch by 'goincase'.) A hole for an IR port would've been a good idea. I may craft it myself.

Anything is possible. A reverse lid at the back would be ideal for hotsyncing to a 'cradle' without the need to remove the Visor from this case. The Hotsync cable should do fine for now.. all that's left is to give it a try. This case is a bit bigger than the Rhodiana, but appears much more sturdy. 2 's up

from the posts here, it seems that I am not the only one with issues with Rhinoskin. I hope we all learn from these boards and take real-life expereinces into consideration before we spend our hard-earned cash. I know I do!
