Unhappy Help - Ink Blot on back of VDX??

I just noticed that on the back of my Visor Deluxe, on the left side, right below the springboard slot, there is what appears to be an ink blot. If you press in (gently) on it, it moves like an ink blot would! What could of happened to my brand new handheld? I have been using it since December, when it was brought brand new. Most of the time, I have it in the Handspring Slim-Leather case, though I sometimes have it in it's hard case that came with it.

This is something I just noticed, that I did not notice two hours ago. The Deluxe still works fine, and I am not taking any chances with it breaking soon...I just hotsynced and used my Backup Module...I guess I will have to call Handspring up and get a new one ...I like my Visor, and I don't want to pay $25 to have one shipped to me while they fix this.

I average about 10-12 hours of use a week with my Visor and Stowaway combination...so going without a PDA for a week is not an option

Anyone else have this happen?

An update...

seeing if this is something I could 'blotch' up, I put a post-it-note into the case, inbetween the springboard connector and case. This seemed to soak it up of sorts, and i noticed that it was an 'oily' liquid...now though, you can still roughly tell where the ink blot was, plus the middle top part of the case is starting to 'foam' up almost...this is a tiny amount, and it is very wierd.

Luckily, my Deluxe still works for now, and tomorrow I am going to call Handspring and see what they say...It is less than 3 months into the warranty, and I purchased the extension plan, so I should be covered (but I still have to pay $25 for an immediate replacement )

Has anyone else at all seen anything like this?

Are you using an aftermarket pen stylus that might be leaking? Or, could something have gotten on your stylus (or into the stylus slot) and into the VDx to cause the spotting?

Yes, I am using a Pentopia Chameleon Stylus, but it is not leaking.

And I don't think it came in from the stylus slot...it was a couple centimeters away from the slot, and I doubt that is it.

As an update: I did the blotting I described above, and now, about an hour later, you can't tell that there ever was anything wrong.

What do you suggest...Call Handspring and see what they want me to do, or keep using it as normal?

I have about 3 years left on the warranty, so that isn't a problem...but the return policy from the store has run out... (a couple months ago, in fact).

This is the only thing that has happened to my Visor...I have been using writerights and the slim-leather case, and they seem to protect my pda really well. I even have that extended warranty w/ screen replacement as a security measure...

what springboards do you have? Anything requiring external batteries? Could it be a result of leaky batteries (i.e. battery acid)?

No Springboards. I have no idea what caused it, but right now, as described above, I can't even tell there was that liquid in my case...it looks normal. The liquid, by the way, seemed to be clear when I blotted it up with that post-it note... I still don't know what it is

I haven't called Handspring since it seems to go away...anyone have a guess what it was?
